Going Through God’s Doors – The Door is Him

In John 10 there is a great passage where it talks about the Lord being the Great Shepherd of the sheep. He says in that passage, “I am the door.” Let me tell you what that says to me. As you go through the door that the Lord opens for you, at some point you will find out that you are actually passing through Him. He has made a place for you. He has made room for you. He is the entrance. He is the Door.

The doorway, as we have said previously, may be narrow confining or difficult to get through. It may require faith to get through. You may have to take a leap of faith or take a risk to get through. Fears may need to be overcome to get through a door of hope. You may have to say out loud, “I am coming out of this prison.” But, you know what? When you come through on the other side of a door He opens, you come into this awesome pasture. You find the Great Shepherd is the door and He is waiting for you. He leads you through the door.

I understand that sheep gates in biblical times were so narrow that only one sheep at a time could go through. This way, the shepherd could count them and watch for them, because he knew them by name. He could inspect them for any injuries or problems. Then, they would come through into this broad place. He brings them into green pastures with everything they need. On the other side of that door you will find plenty of revelation, plenty to “eat”.  The Great Shepherd is the Door.

“Then Jesus said to them again, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.’”  (John 10:7-9; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Meditate on the truth that He is the Door you are going through. Think about that. See yourself standing in the doorway. Let Him show you what He is seeing about you as He is watching you go through. Let Him minister to your wounds and speak lovingly to you.
  • Worship Jesus, your Savior, for a while today.
  • As you see yourself standing in the doorway, which is Him, thank Him for all that He has provided. Thank Him for His goodness and forget none of His benefits. Thank Him for the narrow places that have challenged your faith and caused it to grow. Thank Him, because you are learning to follow the leading of Holy Spirit more closely.  Thank Him for renewing your hope and increasing your faith. Thank Him for healing you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Thank Him.
  • If you have the ability to take communion with Him, do so some time today.

A prayer you can pray:

[Today, I want you to have a very personal time with the Lord. No matter what you are facing, how narrow your path, how filled with obstacles, how great your challenges, He is bringing you through it. He is the door! He is bringing you through. Follow the steps above and come into a new place of refreshing and revelation in Him.]

Today’s decree:

Jesus, we will go through the narrow door today, the door that is YOU!
