A 22 Word Prayer

“Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America.” Lou Engle wrote this 22-word prayer as a spiritual response to Engel v Vitale, the Supreme Court case removing prayer from school in 1962. The prayer that was stopped was a 22-word prayer lifted up each morning across America: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.”

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distress. He made the storm calm, and the sea waves were still.” (Psalm 107:28-29; MEV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray the two 22-word prayers above. You may be led into spontaneous powerful intercession for the nation.
  • Ask the Lord to raise up new voices for the voiceless, end abortion and raise up a new adoption movement.
  • Boldly decree the reversal of Roe v Wade, just as slavery was once ended by God in America. Say, “We close the door to abortion. The culture of death is not welcome here!”
  • Decree that the Holy Spirit will put prayer back in schools by sending revival to the campuses. The enemy will not be able to stop the sweeping move of student-led prayer.

A prayer you can pray:

God, I pray the two 22-word prayers above. (Do that.) Jesus! Multitudes have prayed those prayers and the words in them are eternal. They are hanging in the heavens waiting to be answered by You! I decree that abortion will be ended in America. I ask You to raise up an adoption movement, turning the hearts of the fathers to the children! Start a new civil rights movement in this land that includes the ending of abortion, giving a voice to the voiceless. God, we declare that You are coming to put prayer back in schools by sending a spirit of revival! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

God has heard our cry and is sending revival to our nation, moving to end abortion, and causing prayer to rise up within our schools!

In Him

It’s remarkable that God is so totally in control of what’s going on. We should never glorify how strong the enemy is. We are going to glorify the One who is in control of every moment of every atom of the universe—the “in Him.” In Him all things are held together—everything, all the time, the whole thing! (Matt Lockett)1

“He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” (Colossians 1:17; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Read the above statement and scripture out loud. Now say, “Wow!” Many of you did this spontaneously. Take a few minutes and tell the Lord how amazing He is to you.
  • Repent for the times you glorified the enemy’s activities. Ask the Lord to reveal to you why you did. Were you afraid? Were you jumping on the bandwagon? Were you proudly seeking to impress others (even a prayer group) by sharing something you had information about? Just repent.
  • Now, make faith statements acknowledging His intimate involvement in every moment of everything, thanking Him along the way for that involvement!

A prayer you can pray:

Wow, God! I don’t stop long enough to really think about how You hold everything together! Everything! You are in complete control, even when things just look crazy all around us. Forgive me when I look at circumstances and, seeing the enemy’s fingerprints all over the place, I glorify his involvement. He is not in control! He loses! We learn. Thank You that You have the answers to every question we could ask about the way things are in this nation. Teach us, train us, lead and guide us. We are dialoguing in prayer with the One Who holds it all together now and will wrap it all up in the end! Thank you, Jesus! Amen.

Today’s decree:

God holds everything together, everything, and He is holding His ultimate plans for this nation in place, as well.

The Place Called “There”

Psalm 133:3 says “there the Lord commands the blessing.” God’s looking for a place called “there”. It’s the place where we drop our agendas and come together and believe. He’s looking for red and yellow, black and white, old and young, male and female, to come together to worship Him and work together to accomplish His Will. There He will bless us!

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore.” (Psalm 133: 1-3; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • One of the reasons the enemy’s agenda has been so far advanced is because the body of Christ just won’t work together. We camp out on denominational and doctrinal issues. Let’s repent and commit to put those differences aside for the sake of Kingdom advancement.
  • It is said that Sunday morning is the most segregated time of the week. Repent and get your pastors to do joint services together with churches that are primarily a different race than yours.
  • Traditionally, evangelical churches reject women in leadership. Realize that there is no male or female in the Kingdom. Spiritual gifts are bestowed on both. Hold a prayer meeting for city and national issues where men and women pray equally. It’s okay to do these things on purpose until it becomes natural.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we desire to get “there”—to that place of unity where You command Your blessing! We want to be a blessed people who live in a blessed city and a blessed America! Forgive us for separating ourselves by denomination, race, gender and age. Help us to start prayer meetings where we purposefully invite others who are different than we are! We want You in our midst and we want the blessing we will receive when we walk in unity! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

We will work hard to have unity with other Believers, so that we can experience the fullness of the unity God wants us bless us and bless America with!

Don’t be Found “Plucking Blackberries”

This is not the day to be sitting around “plucking blackberries.”1 God is moving in our midst. It’s time for us to take off our shoes and draw close to the burning bush. Maybe if we do, we’ll hear our name called. God is weaving something together like a master tailor. He’s weaving an amazing tapestry in a powerful and determined way. God is weaving together destinies for people, communities and nations. Pay attention. (Will Ford)2

“For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10; The VOICE)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • We have all been guilty of wasting time. It’s time to be alert and watchful now! Worship the Lord and ask Him to help you see what He is doing in the earth.
  • You were born at the exact right time. God has a reason and purpose for your life now. Repent of wasted time.
  • Realize that your life’s activities are part of the tapestry of His plan unfolding in time. Pray for His destiny for your life, and your community’s and the nation’s history, to be expertly written, perfectly woven together. Intercede between how things currently are and what they should be like. Proclaim, “No more delay!”

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I have been guilty of wasting time, but I sense such an urgency now to be in Your Presence seeking You and seeking to see what You want me to pray. I do not feel like there is time to waste! I will, however, take time to worship You! I pray that my life would unfold just the way you have written it out for me. I pray the same for my city and for the United States of America. I say that the enemy cannot weave this tapestry, and everywhere he has tried to weave a thread in, it will be ripped out now, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Church will not be found plucking blackberries in this hour, but we will be on our faces, seeking the author of our lives!

The Providence of God

“Providence is the continuous activity of God in His creation by which He preserves and governs. It is the denial of the idea that the universe is governed by chance or fate. God’s actions, however, do not violate the reality of human choice or negate man’s responsibility as a moral being. God permits sinful acts to occur, but He does not cause men to sin. He often overrules evil for good and God preserves all things through His Providence.”1

“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” (Romans 8:28; The VOICE)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • God’s Providence is at work, but are we seeing it? Do we notice the hand of God, the ways of God in our midst? Repent if you have not been watching for where God is moving.
  • The Bible says that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and live for Him. Think of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Jesus, Lazarus, etc. What looks dead, lost, and enslaved is only temporarily so. The turn-around will glorify the Lord! Think about this and then rejoice!
  • Now, commit to watch for God’s Providence. Pray for those seemingly dead circumstances in your life and in the nation and command them to unfold into life under the mighty hand of God!

A prayer you can pray:

Dear Lord, forgive me when I do not watch for where You are working. I want to be one who sees and understands the ways of God. I rejoice in the fact that you work all things together for me, just as You did for the patriarchs and Jesus, because I love you and have accepted Your invitation to live according to Your plan! I pray that You will work all things together for good in my life. I believe You are working things together for good in this nation. Help me to see how. I command that Your plan would not be delayed! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

God’s Providence is at work and I can trust Him that He is causing good to triumph over evil in my life and in this nation!

God Will Part Your “Red Sea”

“The same God that parted the Red Sea will part whatever circumstances you’re dealing with. I have a slave kettle that’s been passed down through my family and that’s what it means to us. Basically, the same God that parted slavery in this nation can part our circumstances today. None of this kicks in without somebody laying down their life in sacrificial devotion to the Lord. Then we see the Hand of Providence begin to move!” (Will Ford)1

“By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.” (Hebrews 11:29; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Read Exodus 14. Get excited! What God has done, He can do again in a spiritual sense!
  • Consider what Will meant when he said that “God parted slavery”. God set the captives free in this nation. More than 200 years of prayer went up from those slaves and a tragically bloody Civil War was fought before the passage of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution abolishing slavery. It took more than 100 more for some family members of former slaves to experience complete freedom, and racism continues to affect our national culture. But there was a parting. Selah – stop and think about this.
  • Consider other national issues where a parting is needed – abortion, pornography and sex trafficking, a failing political system, economic instability. Boldly ask the Lord for a parting of our national “Red Seas.”
  • Think about your personal need for a parting of your circumstances. Make the same bold declarations over them!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, in reading Exodus 14, I can see that You made a way for Your people where there truly appeared to be no way. They sacrificed hundreds of years and cried out to You for salvation and You heard them and delivered them, then wiped their enemy out! Do the same for our national issues. We get on our faces and pray and cry out for deliverance. Just as you delivered our nation from the curse of slavery, Lord, deliver us from the curse of the shedding of blood from abortion and the holding of others captive as in sex trafficking. Part the sea in my life and make a way for my personal freedom! The enemy is breathing down my neck and telling me it is not possible, but You make a way where there seems to be none! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

God parts the “Red Sea” in our nation and our lives and nation when we choose to give Him a sacrifice of worshipful faith and intercession!

Blessings We Didn’t Earn

Joshua and Caleb were entering the promised land together with a whole group of people who had grown up in the wilderness. Their wilderness experience included being led by a cloud by day and a fire by night. Their clothes and shoes never wore out. They had cakey white stuff called manna that they gathered up and ate every day. They were born in the desert, but they were the recipients of the blessings given to those who had sacrificed before them to get them to this point. (Will Ford)1

“Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.” (Hebrews 11:36-39; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • As challenging as things are in the United States currently, we are still experiencing the blessings bought by generations before us that paid the price for us to be here. Thank the Lord for the freedom we do have!
  • Thank the Lord for our religious freedom!
  • Thank the Lord for our freedom to vote and the process we have to choose our leaders. Consider the alternatives.
  • Thank the Lord that we can choose how we make a living, where we want to live and who we choose to gather to worship Him with. Clap your hands and thank Him out loud!

A prayer you can pray:

Jesus, things feel insecure in the nation. Sin abounds more and more. However, I thank you that we are still primarily a free nation! Thank you that we can come and go as we please. Thank you that we can worship You as we choose to, wherever we want to, whenever we want to and with whomever we choose. Thank you that we can still go to the voting booth and choose those who represent us, even if we don’t always agree with who is elected or fully agree with the political party platforms. Never let me cease to thank you no matter what I am facing and may I always proclaim your goodness to the next generation. Amen.

Today’s decree:

I will be thankful for the freedoms I do have thanks to the battles those before me faced.

The Creative Word of God!

The word “asah” describes God’s creative activities and His ability. It means to prepare for God-activity that only God’s ability can create for you. A campaign is beginning on earth that only the ability of God can execute. We’re called to discern it and participate. Holy Spirit will release divine ability and anointing and angel armies to accomplish it. The Kingdom is now going to demonstrate God activity. (Tim Sheets)1

“Then God looked over all that he had made (“asah”), and it was excellent in every way. This ended the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31; TLB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Read Genesis 1. The first way God reveals Himself to us in scripture is as Creator! And, He lives in You! Sit and think about that for a minute.
  • God’s creativity took place in time as He spoke His dreams out loud! Think about that for a few minutes. Get a piece of paper out and write out your thoughts about this.
  • Pray that God will give you the faith to create with your words flowing from Holy Spirit’s impressions on your heart. Speak your prayers out loud. Imagine them creating God’s Will as you speak! Speak healing. Speak deliverance. Speak national alignment with God’s perfect will and purposes! Keep going! Kingdom demonstration is beginning with your prayers – your words!

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, in Genesis 1 I see that You revealed Yourself to us first as Creator! Let me think about that for a minute. I see that You spoke into existence what previously only existed in Your heart and mind. I want to think about that for another minute. Wow! Give me words to pray now that are Holy Spirit inspired – words that create Your Will in the earth! I speak healing to the sick and deliverance to the captives! I say that this nation shall line up with the will and purposes it was created for – to reflect the glory of the Lord in the earth! God, express Your Kingdom through Your Church now! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Church will now speak out the creative power of God and watch Him manifest the Kingdom through our out-loud prayers!

Freedom and Kingdom Advancement

“The original American dream wasn’t about wealth, but freedom—freedom to worship and freedom from tyranny. It was also about partnering with God to release the light of His word to all nations, and exporting His glorious gospel to the ends of the earth.”1

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Repent when you have complained to God about your circumstances, as though He is a God Who cannot see.
  • Pray for all of those you know who truly do not have enough. Ask the Lord if there is anything you can do to help them.
  • Thank the Lord for the freedom we have to worship Him!
  • Commit to pray for the upcoming elections. Begin to seek God for wisdom to know which leaders will help us maintain the most freedom to advance the Kingdom.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, forgive me when I have complained that I do not have enough. That may be my temporary circumstance, but You are able to turn my circumstances around. I choose to put my whole trust in You! I sow in prayer for those I know who truly do not have enough. Meet their needs, Lord. Show me if there is a way I can be a blessing to them. I thank You that regardless of my abundance or lack, I am still able to worship You freely in this nation! As I worship You, grant me wisdom to know who to vote for, Lord. Who will work the hardest to maintain our freedom to advance Your Kingdom in the earth? In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

I look for God to maintain our nation’s freedom and abundance!

Memorial Day

“The 30th day of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet church-yard in the land…Their soldier lives were the reveille of freedom to a race in chains,…Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic.”1

“Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.” (Galatians 5:1; MSG)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was a day to honor the fallen who had fought for a united nation and whose sacrifice freed from slavery those in chains. Worship God for your freedom. Thank Him that we live in a relatively free society—one of the freest in the earth today!
  • Commit to spiritually fight on your knees to maintain the freedom of the United States of America, a country God founded for His purposes.
  • Get some flowers or flags today, visit a cemetery and decorate the grave of a fallen soldier. Leave a note of thanks and hope for their family members. Tell them their loved one is not forgotten and that you care!

A prayer you can pray:

Dear Lord, thank you for allowing me the privilege to live in a free America. Thank you again for gracing us, through great turmoil and cost at times, to be one of the freest societies on the earth today. I commit to intercede for the freedom of this nation and support those in the armed services who fight on foreign fronts for that continued freedom. Show me where I can bless a family who has lost a soldier relative and let them know that their loved one did not die in vain. I am thankful! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

I am thankful for the freedom I have as a result of the cost that others have paid for that freedom! May they never be forgotten!
