I Urge You to Pray

“While the current tumultuous cultural climate is very similar to the 1960’s, it is perhaps even more precariously heightened. Today we have Supreme Court sanctioned gay marriage, open doors to an escalating gender confusion, Presidential Executive Orders that go outside of Constitutional rights, the legalization of drugs in specific states, violent radical Islamic jihadist attacks, trillions of dollars of national debt, and more. Much of the current mood in the U.S. is one of anger, frustration and extreme polarization. The Scriptures State, ‘I Urge You to Pray!’” (James Goll)1

“I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • “In the 1960’s we experienced the Generation Gap, Economic Division, Racial Strife, Hate Crimes, Free Sex Movement, Assassinations of Leaders, Drug Epidemic and much more.”1 Tell the Lord that you do not want to see our nation go around that mountain of rebellion against God again in our generation.
  • “Prayer was removed from public schools (in 1962).”1 Decree that the Lord is welcome in our school system and that the lie of separation of Church and State will end. Encourage your children or those in your circle of influence to gather their friends and pray daily at school. It is not illegal for students to gather and pray together.
  • “Abortion was made legally available (in 1973).”1 Repent for the sin of abortion. Ask God to reverse the legality of the killing of our unborn for the sake of convenience.
  • Over that same period of time, “an assault was released against traditional family values and roles (and) a no-fault divorce clause was introduced. This started unraveling American society as we had known it.”1 Ask God to deliver us from the covenant-breaking spirit in America. Pray for strong families and faithful spouses.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we have no desire to repeat the sins of our fathers and thereby reinforce rebellion against you in another generation. Forgive our nation for removing prayer in schools. Our children have suffered the consequences in numerous ways for leaving You out of the educational process. Help me to boldly encourage our children to pray together in school each day. I repent for the sin of abortion in our nation. Reverse Roe v Wade and reverse the curses it has brought against us. Deliver us from the sin of covenant-breaking and make the Church a covenant-keeping people! Strengthen our marriages and grace us to be faithful for all of our lives. Renew our covenant with You and save our nation! Jesus help us! Amen.

Today’s decree:

We stir up and urge to pray, so that we can see a generation of rebellious decisions reversed and our nation healed and in revival!

Flashpoint in History

I strongly feel that we are at a flashpoint in history. God is releasing vision, faith, and a greater measure of grace for turning the tide of complacency and decadence concerning America’s Godly heritage and great destiny. If we, the Church, partner with God’s heart in this critical hour, I believe we will experience a Third Great Awakening and become a light to the nations once again.

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.” (Philippians 1:9-11; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • A flashpoint is the moment something smoldering bursts into flame. Ask God to cause Your heart to burst into flame for Him!
  • Ask Him to break complacency and decadence off of His Church in a moment!
  • Thank Jesus for the fresh outpouring of vision, faith and grace that is occurring more and more now.
  • Pray that this nation will once again be a light unto the nations, as a city set upon a hill lighting the way to Him!

A prayer you can pray:

Jesus, we thank you that prayers are increasing and revival moves of God are starting in various places in the nation. You are moving once again! We ask for increased momentum, as You line our hearts up with Yours, until we reach that flashpoint of outpouring where everything changes! There’s no going back from there! Increase our love for You and others. Increase our vision, our faith and grant us great, great grace to live in a Third Great Awakening! Amen!

Today’s decree:

God is increasing the momentum of revival in the land and we are fast approaching the flashpoint of the beginning of a Third Great Awakening!

Fresh Wave of Intercession

Over the last few years the Lord has been showing me how weariness and hope deferred has come upon the intercessors. The prayer movement in America was dying. Yet God desired to release a fresh wind to revive hearts, rebirth dormant dreams and destinies, and raise up a tenacious praying army along with a powerful signs and wonders movement once again.

“Will You not Yourself revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • If you have been one whose intercessory fires have died back even a little bit in the last few years, breathe deeply. As you exhale, ask the Lord to miraculously revive your passion for Him and for intercession.
  • Pray for other intercessors you know for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to blow in the coals of their hearts and fan their passion to flames again.
  • Pray for the Church in general that we would love to pray!
  • Ask the Lord to give pastors strategies to incorporate significant amounts of time in the worship services to intercession for the nation and their communities; to cry out in intercession for revival and signs and wonders!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, if I am honest, so much of the fire for intercession in me and many other intercessors in the nation has died back. Holy Spirit, fan the embers into brightly burning flames of passion for prayer once again! Do this in my heart first. Do this in the hearts of my intercession-driven friends. Do this in the hearts of Believers all across America! Revive our hearts. Rebirth our dreams. Bring us into the destinies You planned for us! Move through us in sign and wonders and national revival!

Today’s decree:

Holy Spirit will fan the flames of revival and prayer in the Church and we will be on fire for Him!

Healing the Divisions

“There have been police-involved shootings here in the U.S., and it hurts to hear the cries and pain of the black community. And then Thursday night, there was a brutal attack on police officers—the deadliest incident for U.S. law enforcement since September 11, 2001—here in Dallas, Texas, and it hurts to experience the grief and fear of our city. Creation groans. Our spirits groan. We don’t know how to solve the problems or heal the aches, but the Holy Spirit does. We need His wisdom, revelation, and compassion to overwhelm all of our hearts.”1

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:21-23; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray that the flood of violence would stop! The enemy wants to bring chaos and destruction, so cry out for a standard to be raised against him.
  • Ask the Lord to grant peace in our communities, that trust would be restored between the public and law enforcement.
  • Pray for comfort for the families of those who have been killed.
  • Bind a spirit of division, and loose a spirit of unity. Across all lines—racial, denominational, regional, etc.—pray for people to come together in grace and compassion, setting aside selfishness and seeking to understand each other.
  • Pray for the voices of those speaking wisdom, truth, and sound solutions to be amplified; pray for the voices speaking foolishness, hatred, and division to be silenced.

A prayer you can pray:

We command the violence to stop, in Jesus’ Name! Lord, You can see what is behind the scenes and You know the plans the enemy has to stir up chaos and violence, turning various groups of people against one another. We humbly ask for a spirit of unity, instead. We ask You to raise up voices of wisdom and cause their voices to be loud and clear. May the truth they speak be louder than the voices of those calling for violence. Heal our divided nation, Lord. Heal us now. In the Name of Jesus, amen.

Today’s decree:

We look to God to provide answers to divisive issues and cry out for a spirit of unity to rise up!

Holding the Courts Accountable

Not only the Supreme Court, but others in the Judiciary system have run amuck. One of today’s liberal federal judges, Richard Posner, no longer even sees the need to twist the Constitution’s meaning in order to make his warped rulings. He simply admits that to him, and many other judges and attorneys today, the Constitution is irrelevant. “I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation…the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post-Civil War amendments (including the 14th), do not speak to today.1 (Emphasis mine.) So, if you’re wondering where in the Constitution judges find the removing of prayer from schools, abortion rights, the redefining of marriage and other liberal positions, the answer is simple: they don’t. They simply legislate from the bench, according to their own desires and ideals, leading to an overly powerful judiciary branch with no remaining standard for which they must be held accountable.

“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the LORD your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.” (Deuteronomy 16:18; NASB) “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.” (Isaiah 33:22; KJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Bring your anger to the Lord and let Him turn it into intercession with weeping for the twisting in our judicial system!
  • It is critical that the nation has a firm foundation to stand on and that foundation is the Constitution of the United States of America. Call to the Judge of the Whole Earth to consider these that ignore it and ask the Lord to replace them with judges that will honor our Constitution.
  • Boldly ask the Lord for a reversal of decisions that have been made by opinion and current cultural influences or international standards. Ask God for justice and expect it, because these decisions were made under false pretenses!

A prayer you can pray:

God, it is frustrating for your people when we have appointed judges that do not honor our founding documents, especially the United State Constitution. This document was founded on godly principles, but modern judges are telling us they are purposefully ignoring it! We appeal to a higher Court and we ask You, Judge of the Earth, to move on behalf of our intercession and replace these renegade judges who judge according to their whims and fancies with those that will honor our Constitution. We also boldly ask You to raise up situations to bring cases back before re-seated courts that will result in righteous judgements and set the nation back on a proper course founded on proper interpretation of the Constitution. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Today’s decree:

The Lord will give this nation judges that honor the Constitution upon which it was founded!

Leadership Humility

Those who lead a nation should remember that they were elected by “we the people.” The United States of America was formed as a Republic, which means we elect those who are supposed to represent the people they were elected by. Sadly, politicians often get elected, then do whatever they want, ignoring the desires of their constituents. We need to elect humble leaders who will listen to the people they serve and make decisions that benefit the majority of their lives. This is how the Republic is preserved.

“Jesus called the apostles and said, ‘You know that the acknowledged rulers of nations have absolute power over people and their officials have absolute authority over people. But that’s not the way it’s going to be among you. Whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant.’” (Mark 10:42-43; GW)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede on behalf of the elected leaders in your area: President, Vice President, Senator, S. Representative, State Representatives, County officials, City Mayor and Council Members. If you don’t know who they are, search online and find out. Carry the list with you and commit to the Lord to pray for them on a regular basis.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to convict your elected leaders if you are sure they are not representing the will of the people that elected them. Write them an email and tell them why you believe this. Be respectful, but honest. Let them know you are praying regularly for them.
  • Ask the Lord for humble men and women to be raised up by the Lord in your area who will listen to the people and can govern with wisdom and compassion for those they serve. Run for office, if that describes you. Don’t be afraid! God equips those He calls.

A prayer you can pray:

Dear Lord, I lift up my elected leaders. (Name them by name and pray for each one.) Lord, convict those who have their own agendas and who ignore the people’s will in the sin of pride. Tell them quickly, Lord, and give them an opportunity to repent before they trip and fall over the consequences of their actions. Bring them to Your throne of grace and teach them a better way of ruling—from a position of service to others. Please raise up men and women to governmental office in my area and in the nation who are humble. Raise up those who listen to the people and weigh out decisions carefully, seeking You for guidance or at least making decisions that benefit the majority of those they serve. If You want me to run for political office, Lord I am here to serve You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God, I ask for humble political leaders for my city, state and nation!

The Importance of Selecting Righteous Leaders

The same standard by which we choose leaders in the Church, should be the standard by which we choose our government leaders. In the church it is called righteousness.  In the secular environment, it is called ethics. If we do not have leaders that adhere to a high standard and to the Constitution’s boundaries, they will find themselves governing a restless, untrusting people.

“But select from among you, brethren, seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.” (Acts 6:3; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Commit to the Lord that you will seek Him for His choice of candidate in the national elections – individuals who will uphold the Constitution and will govern in a just and ethical manner. (“Righteous” in Proverbs 29:2 means “conforming to an ethical standard.”)
  • Pray that the Lord prepares their heart to govern and grants them grace, as they will be pulled on by many people, special interest groups and spiritual forces. Even those with strength of character can sway under political pressure.
  • Pray for Christians to get out and vote, even though choices may be hard! There are an estimated 90 million Christians in America. At least 13 million are not registered to vote and in 2012, 26 million Christians who were registered to vote, did not!1 Don’t be a statistic! You can learn how to register to vote here.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I commit to seek You for the person You can see can lead our nation in a righteous, ethical manner and uphold the Constitution upon which this nation is founded. I pray in advance that You would prepare their heart and grant them wisdom and great grace! I pray they will stand strong against the powers and influence that will try to manipulate the decisions they make. I pray for strong character that grows in strength daily and that they will seek You or learn to seek You for answers to hard decisions. God call Your sleeping Church to the polls. Help me to invite all of my friends to vote and make sure they know where to get information to do so. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Church will rise up and pray for and elect leaders with strong moral fortitude who will support the Constitution and govern with grace and wisdom.

What Is The Price of Freedom?

“Do you know what price the signers of that parchment paid for their patriotism, the devotion to principle? John Hancock of Massachusetts was one of the wealthiest men who came to Philadelphia. Later, as he stood outside Boston and watched the enemy sweep by, he said, ‘Burn, Boston, though it makes John Hancock a beggar.’

“Altogether, of the 56 men who signed our great Declaration, 5 were taken prisoner, 12 had their homes sacked, 2 lost their sons, 9 died in the war itself. Those men knew what they were doing. In the final stirring words of the Declaration, they pledged to one another ‘our lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.’ And when liberty was at stake, they were willing to pay the price.”1

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.” (Philippians 3:8; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Our founding fathers counted the cost to live free. We must do the same to live free in Christ. Stop and think about this.
  • Are we willing today to pay the price or pray the price to develop the nation we want to live in—one that is found pleasing to the Lord? Talk to the Lord about this.
  • Ask the Lord to supernaturally create the unity in the body of Christ that is needed and the strategies needed to become a nation that honors God. Commit to be a nation-changer.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, thank you that You gave us the example in the Apostle Paul that there is Kingdom business that is worth giving up everything to see come to pass. And there is nation-building business worth it, as well. Give me a determination to work together with You and to pray unceasingly to see a national transformation that honors You. I am here, Lord, use me! In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Today’s decree:

If I will be free, there will be a cost and I am determined to pay it rather than live in bondage to sin or to man!

Independence Day

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That, to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed. That, whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such Principles and organizing its Powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”1

“Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth. Selah.” (Psalm 67:4; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • The above is taken from the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. In just a few sentences it honors God, honors life, and honors equality of people. It explains government and tells us what to do if and when that government is not working anymore. Thank the Lord for forefathers who honored Him and gave us such a model.
  • Pray for our current governmental leaders. Ask God to remove those that are not honoring Him or abiding by the principles above. Ask Him for leadership that does. Thank the Lord for His guidance of these leaders.
  • Pray for the first sentence of the Declaration to be reality in the USA.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I thank You for a founding document that honors You, honors life and honors the equality of people. I thank You for founders that looked to You for the words and justification to remove themselves from ungodly rule and to set up a nation out from under oppression. I lift our current governmental leaders to You (list as many by name as you can). Please lead them by Your sovereign guidance, Lord, or remove them and replace them with those that can live according to the above document. We worship You, Father. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Today’s decree:

We are one nation under God, meant to honor life and respect the equality of all men and women. We will accept no other model of government than a free Republic.

Let’s Continue the Turnaround!

Rather than giving up on America, join me and thousands of others, as we appeal to heaven for a third great awakening, which could result in millions of people saved, and a resurrection of the America we love. As we celebrate our birth as a nation, let’s recommit ourselves to seeing a rebirth of truth, integrity, and our godly heritage. Don’t give up on America!

“And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.” (Galatians 6:9; TLB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • As we get ready to celebrate our nation’s birthday tomorrow, let’s not forget among the celebration the great cost that was paid to birth this nation. And, let’s ask God for a rebirth of it in our day and age.
  • Boldly ask God that this nation would birth a third Great Awakening! We are seeing signs of revival. Press in for more outpouring—saved souls, transformed lives and eventual governmental change.
  • Recommit yourself to being a promoter of truth, integrity and godly heritage. It will take all of us to turn this ship around!

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we come to You today and thank You for this great nation, the United States of America. We acknowledge that this nation was birthed from great bravery in the face of impossible odds in order that Your dream could come to pass. We want to see another wave of that dream—a third Great Awakening! We want to see souls saved and lives changed, hearts altered and a nation born again! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

We will not give up on America! We will pray and act and be participants in God’s dream for our nation!
