Day 6 – Reclaiming the Dark Places

“The kingdom of God has come near you.”
(Luke 10:9; ESV)

Darkness is not measured by the quantity of its own elements or ingredients. There are no “dark waves” like there are “light waves.” Rather, darkness is measured as the absence of light.

When we step into a dark room in our home, our very first instinct is to turn on a light, and for that reason, the light switch is generally right near the door. Flip the switch, the light comes on, and immediately the darkness goes away. It cannot exist where the light is present. Even if it is reduced to shadows where the rays of light have not fully penetrated, the darkness is mortally compromised.

Speaking peace has the same effect as the light switch: it dispels the darkness around it. Even if it is the smallest twinkle in vast, dark space, it is sufficient to give orientation to everything else in that space.

Let’s review Jesus’ instructions in Luke 10. First, he told His followers to speak peace to every house (v.5); in essence, He told them to turn on the light. Bless, don’t curse.

Second, He said, “Eat what they set before you” (v.8). Fellowship, don’t avoid. You don’t have to talk. Just eat and drink, but keep the lamp burning.

Then He told them, “Heal the sick who are there” (v.9). Minister, don’t ignore.

Finally, at the close of His instructions, Jesus said, Proclaim: “Tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you’” (v.11).

Even though your “peace-speaking” may seem but a flicker of light in a very dark place, Jesus says that flicker is impregnated with all the power and resources of the kingdom of God.

In fact, that’s exactly what Jesus’ followers experienced. They “returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning” (Lk. 10:17-18). Darkness was defeated. The corruptive forces operating under its cover were sent off in hasty retreat. The spiritual climate was changed for the better.

This is the lifestyle that you and I are called to.

Yes!  Change the climate—change the nation!

Points for Prayer:

  • Review Luke 10:1-18. Accept and embrace the truth of every verse in prayer.
  • Armed with greater understanding and faith, speak peace more boldly to every house you enter, physically or in prayer.
  • Reclaim every dark place—from your house to the houses of government in Washington—because Jesus has already paid the price of redemption.
  • Make this your lifestyle for you and your family from this day forward. Determine to let no corrupt word leave your mouth, but that every word be full of the peace of God.
  • Speak peace, and follow the trail, because now you know there is a trail.

PRAY IN UNITY

Day 5 – Blessing the Nation and All Those In It

“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’”  (Luke 10:5; ESV)

We are about to “enter the houses” of our nation through prayer—our own homes, the homes of our communities, the supermarket, the pharmacy, houses of government, industry, business, and education. Here’s the rule: If it has a door and a roof, it’s a “house.” Speak peace.

Some of these houses we will enter physically. Many of them we will “enter” from a distance in the Spirit. That’s the power of prayer. No matter the mode of entry, the exhortation Jesus gave to 70 of His followers in Luke 10 is the same one He gives to us today.

Here are some things to remember.

First, keep it simple. Just say the words every time you’re about to go through a door: “Peace be to this house.” Shoot it like an arrow. Spray it around like air freshener, and, like air freshener, let it do its work. In fact, it will begin to work—for you, in you, in others, and always in favor of what God wants to do on the other side of that door.

Second, don’t make a big deal about who you are speaking peace to. You will never look into the eyes of a person that God does not love. Separate the sin from the sinner. We are not “blessing” the sin; we are speaking the peace of God over people God created for a divine purpose who have been trapped in an unwholesome atmosphere. Speak God’s peace.

By speaking peace to every “house,” we are putting our trust in the goodness of God that leads men to repentance. We are commending the house and its occupants to God and paving the way for them to be touched by His power and presence.

Speaking unwholesome words empowers the enemy to work, not only in the lives of others, but also in our very own lives. By speaking peace and blessings, we will be opening the doors to the Holy Spirit to fill both us and them with His righteous, healing presence.

In Luke 10:17-18, we read: “The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’ And He said to them, ‘I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.’”

Where was Satan falling? To begin with, in the very place where the peace was spoken. In other words, speaking peace is meant to be our weapon of choice to literally push back the powers of darkness that are present right where we are in our own spheres of influence. If there is one thing the evil one cannot stand, it is the presence of God manifest through our peace. Indeed, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet!” (Rom. 16:20).

Points for Prayer:

  • Speak peace to your own house, and the households of your neighbors. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful” (Col. 3:15).
  • Spend the rest of today speaking peace and blessing over the houses of business, education and government, from Washington D.C. to your state, to your county, and to your community. Recite the name of the institution or office and declare, “Peace be to your house!”
  • Recite the names of people you know who are leading in the spheres of business, education and government, and boldly declare, “Peace be to your house!”

PRAY IN UNITY

Day 4 – Passionate Conquering Love

You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” (Colossians 3:12; GNT)

As God’s people move into deeper relationships with Christ, the stark contrast between us and the world of darkness will increase. The Spirit of God is already illuminating and revealing the inequities, deceptive practices, and strategic plans of the enemy like we have never seen before. The challenge we face is to intercede without becoming angry or belligerent toward those blinded to the truth, even those in positions of authority.

We must set our will to love those who would hate us and spitefully use us, knowing and believing they will be impacted by a love that goes beyond the normal reaction of humanity. We have an opportunity to become part of the answer to Christ’s prayer for unity—“Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one” (John 17:11 NIV)—but also to be a part of His commissioned servants, equipped with great commandment love (Matthew 22:37‒39) to go into our world with His authority, making disciples and teaching them the Truth that will dispel their darkness and reveal any deception (Matthew 28:18‒19).

Do not be discouraged if you encounter conflict and adversity in any arena of your life and ministry. The danger of strife also threatened the New Testament church because they were such passionate people of conviction and belief. The greater the enthusiasm people have, the greater the danger of colliding with one another every now and then. People who apathetically sit in neutral gear are not likely to run into any kind of warfare within or without the community of believers.

Armed with the understanding that love and truth will ultimately triumph over hate and deception, pray the following Scripture-based prayers.

Points for Prayer:

  • God, as Your chosen and beloved people, enable us to clothe ourselves with tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering, not compromising our standards of truth and righteousness, but willingly and gently sharing with those who have been deceived. Raise up leaders in authority who will embody godliness and holy lifestyles, speaking truth and exemplifying integrity (Colossians 3:12).
  • Savior and Lord, show us how to walk in love and forgiveness as we let the peace of God rule in our hearts. Help us to live grace-filled lives, so that whatever we do, it is in the name of the Lord Jesus, not for the sake of nationalism, denominationalism, or political and personal agendas (Colossians 3:13–17).
  • Holy Spirit, position people to serve in our executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, who have a personal relationship with Christ and knowledge of His Word that brings wisdom and understanding.
  • Praise and worship God for His ability to give life to the dead and call into existence those things that seem impossible (Romans 4:16–19).

Day 3 – Walking, Praying, Voting: The Church in Unity

I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me.” (John 17:22-23; GNT)

We are standing here in a moment of time that was only produced by the prayers of His saints. The upcoming midterm elections are critical for so many different reasons. We want to see God continue to move throughout this nation. The unity we are currently seeing across the Body of Christ in America is what will move the heart of God to act on our prayers. He loves it!

As a strategy of unified intercession for our nation, we believe God is calling us once again to prayer walk our neighborhoods. In 2016, we had up to 10,000 people report that they were prayer walking in one way or another, and now, from September 28 through Election Day, November 6, we will be prayer walking again.

We are going to ask the Lord to anoint our coalition to be able to stand together, pray, and vote, and continue to shift the nation in a righteous direction. If the leaders of the churches and prayer ministries make this call for prayer together, it is as if we are blowing a shofar loud enough to wake the Church up, at least to the nation’s need of prayer.

Points for Prayer:

  • Thank the Lord for increasing unity across many diverse streams of the Body of Christ.
  • Ask God for an increase of this love and unity.
  • Call forth the prayer walkers. Call forth tens of thousands of them to pray for their neighbors, blessing them.
  • Intercede for the praying Church to also be the voting Church.
  • Commit to intercede and prayer walk through Election Day, November 6. Go to PrayInUnity.org, sign up to prayer walk, and note on the map where you are praying.
  • Tell your pastors and other prayer leaders about this initiative. Put it on social media and tell everyone you know to sign up!

Day 2 – Repentance: The Key to Revival

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 2:14; NKJV)

As we seek the face of God to restore and renew our people and to prepare for the upcoming elections, He leaves clear instructions to achieve this goal. Those directions are listed in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“If My people”: “If” indicates that this is conditional and depends upon our response.

“Who are called by My name”: God is not calling the nation to repent, only His people.

“Will humble themselves”: We must yield our pride and our stony hearts, so God can do His healing work in us.

“And pray”: YES! Pray!

“And seek My face”: Seek Him, not the ways of the world. He then reveals our sin to us, that we might be rid of this obstacle and draw closer unto Him.

“And turn from their wicked ways”: We turn around and go in the direction He shows us (for example, from stubbornness to yieldedness).

“Then I will hear from heaven”: Hallelujah! Yes, Lord!

“And will forgive their sin”: Only God can do this for us.

“And heal their land.”: When each one of us, His living stones in this nation, obeys this command, then the healing of the land will come as the “jigsaw pieces” of our hearts are joined. Amen.

Points for Prayer:

  • Father, help me to allow You to look deep within my heart, that I might repent of any hidden sin. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
  • Lord God, help me to overcome any fear I might have of coming to You. Help me, instead, to trust You in all my ways and in all my days. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
  • Lord God, help me to be quick to recognize the sinful ways that You show me and to find the strength to stop, take stock, and turn back to You. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • Lord God, help me to rejoice that You are hearing my prayer! “Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attend unto the prayer that is made in this place.” (2 Chronicles 7:15)
  • Finally, Father God, help me to remember that You are always there for me. “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)

PRAY IN UNITY

Day 1 – Worship Him!

“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”
(John 4:23; ESV)

There is no better way to begin a 40-day season of intercession for the United States of America than in worship of our God and King! Let us be conscious of the fact that we are blanketing the nation in worship from sea to shining sea, over Alaska and Hawaii-—setting up a canopy of His presence.

Many years ago, the Lord gave me a vision of a huge chuppah—a Jewish bridal canopy—covering America. The result of this level of honoring God was the release of a great move of God that swept across the nation. That vision has stayed with me and many others over the years.

On September 27, worship tents went up in almost every state capital, across many college campuses, and in Washington, D.C., the heart of our government. Worship began to rise across the nation and will be maintained 24 hours a day through tomorrow night. This is the vision of Tent America. May it never end! May our voices rise in praise to our God. May our faces bow low in worship of our King! He is worthy! To Him be the glory! Exalt Him in unity, brothers and sisters in Christ – every race, tongue, age, and economic situation. Take it from your homes and churches to your city’s streets.

Let the name of the Lord Jesus be lifted high above the United States of America!

Points for Prayer:

  • Fix your eyes on Jesus. He alone is the object of our worship!
  • Start at Psalm 145 and worship through Psalm 150. Let your heart receive His love as deep calls to deep.
  • Be conscious of the thousands of Believers worshipping with you today. The Bride is in worship today! Don’t you feel the joy of that?
  • Let your own songs of worship rise up to Him.

A Call to Prayer: The Midterms

One of the keys to our nation’s restoration is the transformation of our judicial branch of government. The left knows this, which is why their vicious and unprincipled attack of Justice Kavanaugh is unrelenting. These efforts are an attempt to delay the confirmation vote until after the midterms, in hopes that through these elections they will regain control of Congress. This would allow them to oppose Kavanaugh’s nomination indefinitely, as well as any other pro-life, constitutionalist nominee President Trump would appoint. If this scenario occurs, they have threatened to continue this delay for as long as two years, in hopes that in 2020 a pro-choice president could be elected, allowing them to maintain control of the Supreme Court.

Regarding the recent allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, no compassionate person would ever belittle the pain and trauma of a person who has suffered a sexual assault. But whatever occurred to his accuser, I don’t believe it was perpetuated by Judge Kavanaugh. I believe he is an honorable man and a competent judge. More importantly, I am 1000% certain that neither guilt nor innocence can ever be proven in this case. I am also certain that, in such a situation, it is completely inappropriate for a person’s reputation, family, and career to be destroyed. This unacceptable treatment of him contradicts every tenet of law and justice America was built on. And the manner in which this accusation has been handled by the left makes clear that their actions are nothing but a Democrat smear campaign.

“Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5; MSG)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray for a supernatural, powerful and merciful intervention by God in these elections.
  • Ask God to do something to turn the tide. We, His Ekklesia, can’t allow these actions to go on.
  • Pray for President Trump and other leaders in our nation who are standing for life and for America’s God-given destiny. President Trump, though imperfect, is doing a good job. Make no mistake about it, the vile hatred of him by the left is not because of his immoral past. They hate President Trump because he is helping turn around the antichrist agenda they love, and because he is halting their transformation of America into something other than what was intended by God and our Founders.
  • John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams and America’s 6th president stated, “The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” So much for our Founders not wanting God involved in our nation and its government! Contend with me for this reality to be restored and continue into our future.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we come humbly before Your throne of grace to find grace to help our nation in a time of need. We request Your intervention, for we believe that is our only hope. We are asking You to turn the tide of evil that is overtaking America. We must have Your supernatural and merciful intervention. We, the Ekklesia, join You in Your activities and plan. We pray for grace, wisdom, and strength for President Trump. We can see that he is working to restore America to what You and the Founders planned. Restore the highest glory of the United States of America and “bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.”

Today’s decree:

America’s civil government will be connected with its Christian government once again!

A Call to Prayer: Seeing The Condition of Our Nation

One thing I observed while in Washington, D.C., for the Kavanaugh hearings was the emphasis on abortion coming from those on the left. It was enlightening. I expected the subject to come up, but it became obvious early on that this issue was their paramount concern. Overwhelmingly so. The right to abort babies was mentioned or alluded to by the Democrats ten to one over any other subject. It is unfathomable to me that we have come to a point in America’s history where the number one goal and concern of half her leadership—and perhaps half of her population—is the right to abort babies! Sadly, however, it has come to this. Clearly, this is demonic. The resulting bloodshed of 60 million innocent babies has caused our land to become defiled. This, in turn, has allowed a spirit of violence and death to rule over us (refer to Psalm 106:38; Isaiah 59:7).

Though this is America’s true condition, it does not have to be the final word. A turnaround has begun and if the praying church continues its appeal to heaven, the Lord, who delights in mercy, will save us (Micah 7:18-19). I believe America is about to experience the greatest revival and restoration in her history…again, if we continue to pray.

There is no God like you. You take away people’s guilt. God will forgive his people who survive. He will not stay angry with them forever, because he enjoys being kind. He will come back and comfort us again. He will throw all our sins into the deep sea.” (Micah 7:18-19; ERV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Psalm 106: 38 says, “They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.” Identificationally repent that this nation, largely because of the actions of our Supreme Court, has opened the door to the slaughter of more than 60 million babies. Weep and cry out for this death structure to end!
  • The Word in Isaiah 59:7 says, “Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.” This is the condition of America right now – today! Intercede between what is and what ought to be!
  • Pray Micah 7:18-19, above.
  • Declare, “Revival and turnaround is coming to America!”

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, in Psalm 106: 38 Your Word says, “They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.” We have sinned before You as a nation, God. We have not honored life, as You commanded us to. We have murdered the most vulnerable among us and our hands, as a nation, are covered in blood. Please forgive us. Forgive us and give us governmental leaders and judges that will stop this death culture! Lord, look! Isaiah 59:7 is the condition of so many of our leaders that love abortion and stop their ears from hearing You. “Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.” We appeal to Heaven to save us, save these leaders, and set our nation, once again, on a course of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There is no God like you. You take away people’s guilt. You will forgive Your people who survive. You will not stay angry with us forever, because You enjoy being kind. You will come back and comfort us again. You will throw all our sins into the deep sea. We believe this, Jesus, and put all of our trust in You, alone. Amen.

Today’s decree:

God will forgive us and save our land!

Call to Prayer: The Kavanaugh Hearings

A generation of Americans has given itself to erroneous and destructive beliefs: anti-biblical thinking; humanism (humans are their own god); secularism (the view that education and civil policy should be conducted without a religious element); and death (abortion). As a result, we are now ruled by the spirit that produced these beliefs. The reality of this was on full display at the confirmation hearing of Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court. I was there, along with 50-60 other intercessors, to pray for God’s will to be accomplished. The level of deceit, lies, slander, and arrogant pride was shocking, displayed not only by the protesters, but also by opposing Senators. I left D.C. with several significant thoughts, which I believe are worth sharing.

The level of spiritual warfare was extraordinary. Never have I been more convinced that a war of historical proportions is underway for the soul of our nation, a war that will have worldwide implications. Like Israel, America’s role on the earth is extremely significant. Israel was chosen to bring forth the Messiah, the Savior of the world; America was chosen to be the foremost messenger of this “good news.” Understanding this, there is little wonder that such an intense spiritual war for our destiny is occurring.

At the Kavanaugh hearings, I was also amazed by the level of viciousness coming from “the left.” Some of them seem to have lost all decency—their liberal agenda is all that matters. This segment of America’s leaders is determined to maintain control over our nation—truth, honor, integrity, civility, morality, and the lives of babies be damned. Do not be deceived, they despise what we stand for and will not relent in their opposition. To these elitists, we really are “deplorables.” And I assure you, this war is winner take all.

“But you need to be aware that in the final days the culture of society will become extremely fierce and difficult for the people of God. People will be self-centered lovers of themselves and obsessed with money. They will boast of great things as they strut around in their arrogant pride and mock all that is right. They will ignore their own families. They will be ungrateful and ungodly. They will become addicted to hateful and malicious slander. Slaves to their desires, they will be ferocious, belligerent haters of what is good and right. With brutal treachery, they will act without restraint, bigoted and wrapped in clouds of their conceit. They will find their delight in the pleasures of this world more than the pleasures of the loving God. They may pretend to have a respect for God, but in reality they want nothing to do with God’s power. Stay away from people like these!” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, The Passion Translation)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray fervently… faithfully… daily…boldly. Ask Holy Spirit for His mercy on our nation.
  • Appeal to Him for His assistance to us in our attempt to turn America.
  • Petition Him for the assistance of angels.
  • Pray that evil will not prevail. Ask Holy Spirit to confuse and thwart the plans of those who oppose Him.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, in our war for America’s recovery, we have come to our Saratoga, our Omaha Beach. We will either persevere in this battle and, with Your help, win; or we will grow weary and lose. There is no middle ground. I am convinced that we, the praying church, will continue to fight and will win. We appeal to Heaven and to Heaven alone. Send Your angels to fight for us. Send them to intervene in the affairs of men and reverse the source of the curses that hold us back. We choose truth, honor, integrity, civility, morality, and every unborn life!  Shut the mouths of the accusers and those who spew forth hatred, and every kind of wicked and vile word against righteousness, justice, and You. Do not let evil prevail against Your Church, lest they say, “Where is Your God?” Thwart every plan of men and be King over our land, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

America’s destiny and the cause of Christ is at stake! He will save us!

Praying Without Partisanship – Part 1

“In the Old Testament, Daniel, Joseph, and Esther served terrible kings, yet they each received revelation from God to fix a social, political, and/or economic problem for those evil kings. And they let the king take the credit! They interceded for those very human kings and found favor with them. They were each welcomed with the royal scepter of receptivity in order to share God’s solution with their leaders. In each case, the nation was saved, together with God’s people. We need to pray for all men – for those we like and those we don’t like. The devil will lie to us to divide us. We typically see Caucasians favoring one political party and candidate, and other ethnic groups favoring another. The upcoming Pray in Unity project, beginning Friday, 9/28, desires to bring us together to pray fervently for all of our political leaders. Let’s trust God for an extraordinary miracle!” (Ed Silvoso)1

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Humble yourself and ask God to prepare your heart to pray in unity with Believers from many streams as we pray in unity beginning this Friday.
  • Say, “The enemy will not rule over the Church! We will pray in unity!”
  • Ask God to raise up godly leaders for the United States, both spiritual and governmental.
  • Call forth an army of intercessors declaring, “Kingdom of God, come! Will of God in America, be done!”

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we want to pray with clean hands and pure hearts, so that we may lead quiet and tranquil lives. We say that the enemy will not prosper, but that Your purposes will come to pass in this nation. Raise up godly leaders. Raise up spiritual leaders who will walk alongside political leaders on both sides of the fence. Raise up that army of intercessors to pray until we see Your Kingdom come in the governmental arena of our nation, our states, and our cities. This we pray in the name that is above all names—Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Christ’s Body will learn to pray in unity for our nation.
