Thoughts on Black History Month

“Let’s reflect this month on the President’s campaign promises to address racism by ensuring us that ‘when we give everyone a great America, safety, security, a reason to belong, that will serve the issue.’ The President also stated early in his post as Commander-in-Chief, “No matter what color our skin is, we all bleed red.’ His insight into the One Blood truth, coupled with his frequent reminders that: ‘We don’t serve government, we serve God; in God we trust,’ are encouraging to say the least.

“It’s also important to note that while we are One Blood/One Race (Acts 17:26), the Black/African American Community still celebrates a month educating the masses regarding many notable contributions of Blacks in America that are unknown and undocumented in certain historical annuls. These efforts are designed to unite us; never divide us. Herein is a key unlocking Racial Reconciliation. (Dr. Alveda King)

“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.” (Acts 17:26; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • We are going to work to end racism in America and we hope you will join us in this commitment.

  • Pray the prayer of Jesus, asking Him to make all Christians one, even as He and the Father are one.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we will contend for the ending of racism in America. While not confined to black and white, the way African Americans have been treated throughout the history of America gives us a good view into racism in general in this nation. We pray that You would help us go out of our way to love one another, regardless of color. Rather than be “color-blind”, we choose to see the beauty in the diversity of races You created. May we educate ourselves on the contributions to our nation’s history that people of color specifically provided. May we purposefully work together to integrate our communities and that “most divided hour every Sunday morning.” In working hard to understand one another, and strategically praying for and serving one another, form us into one Body of Believers, even as You are one. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The American Church of all colors will celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the rich heritage of our nation!

Day 8 – God’s Blueprint for America

“Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, ‘If you return to the LORD with all your heart, remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you and direct your hearts to the LORD and serve Him alone; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.’”

(1 Samuel 7:3; NASB)

God did an amazing thing when He birthed this nation. In the hearts of our Founding Fathers, He placed the desire to form a nation based upon the realization that it is God who makes laws—man only legislates them. God is the one who gives rights to individuals, and those rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

At the same time, our Founding Fathers perfectly understood that man is flawed and that power is intoxicating. Their experience with the Throne of England and its abuses was fresh in their minds and caused them to structure the new government based upon Scripture (Isaiah 33:22) to create a bicameral Congress with two branches, as well as the three branches of the federal government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The Legislative branch creates laws, the Executive branch executes the laws, and the Judicial branch enforces the laws. The separation of powers with the proper balance is critical to a government led by fallen man. This mix of theology and practicality has produced the longest standing constitution in the history of mankind!

And yet, over the past few decades, we have seen much “overreach” of power as branches of our government attempt to meddle in areas they shouldn’t. This is where we need to understand what an “originalist” is. From a constitutional standpoint, an originalist is a person who believes that the Constitution should be interpreted with the views of the original authors. Simply put, our Constitution should be interpreted as our Founding Fathers viewed the issues. It is not to be reinterpreted according to the whims of the prevailing culture. In other words, the Constitution is not meant to be a “living document.”

The way Evangelical Christians interpret the Bible is very similar. Seminarians are taught not to take Scriptures out of context, but to discern what the author intended to communicate and what the original audience understood the message to be. This is absolutely critical; otherwise any culture or speaker with charisma could twist the Word of God to their own meaning.

If we believe that the birth of this nation was a miracle, if we believe that our Constitution is the most Christian document of its kind in the history of mankind, if we believe that our Constitution correctly understands God’s blueprint for government while correctly weighing the sinful nature of man, then I would argue that we should pray that our government would be reformed to our Creator’s intent.

To take it a step further, many of our Founding Fathers were raised during the greatest revival in our nation’s history, The First Great Awakening, when they formed their biblical worldviews. Revival preceded the miracle of our nation. Prayer preceded this revival. We must pray for the reformation of our government.

Points for Prayer:

  • That our government leaders would embrace a biblical structure (Isaiah 33:22).
  • That our government leaders would understand the fallen nature of man and how that influences legislation (Romans 3:23).
  • That our government leaders would understand they are held accountable by God (Micah 5:15).
  • That our government would legislate with the Fear of the Lord (Isaiah 33:6).
  • That our government would be filled with capable leaders (Exodus 18:21).
  • That our governmental leaders would put their hope in the Lord (Psalm 33:18).
  • That God would build a biblical worldview into our government leaders of tomorrow and that they would have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Give Him 15 is joining a 40-day national call to prayer before the 2018 Midterm Elections. Here is today’s Focus:

Day 5 – Blessing the Nation and All Those In It

“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’”  (Luke 10:5; ESV)

We are about to “enter the houses” of our nation through prayer—our own homes, the homes of our communities, the supermarket, the pharmacy, houses of government, industry, business, and education. Here’s the rule: If it has a door and a roof, it’s a “house.” Speak peace.

Some of these houses we will enter physically. Many of them we will “enter” from a distance in the Spirit. That’s the power of prayer. No matter the mode of entry, the exhortation Jesus gave to 70 of His followers in Luke 10 is the same one He gives to us today.

Here are some things to remember.

First, keep it simple. Just say the words every time you’re about to go through a door: “Peace be to this house.” Shoot it like an arrow. Spray it around like air freshener, and, like air freshener, let it do its work. In fact, it will begin to work—for you, in you, in others, and always in favor of what God wants to do on the other side of that door.

Second, don’t make a big deal about who you are speaking peace to. You will never look into the eyes of a person that God does not love. Separate the sin from the sinner. We are not “blessing” the sin; we are speaking the peace of God over people God created for a divine purpose who have been trapped in an unwholesome atmosphere. Speak God’s peace.

By speaking peace to every “house,” we are putting our trust in the goodness of God that leads men to repentance. We are commending the house and its occupants to God and paving the way for them to be touched by His power and presence.

Speaking unwholesome words empowers the enemy to work, not only in the lives of others, but also in our very own lives. By speaking peace and blessings, we will be opening the doors to the Holy Spirit to fill both us and them with His righteous, healing presence.

In Luke 10:17-18, we read: “The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’ And He said to them, ‘I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.’”

Where was Satan falling? To begin with, in the very place where the peace was spoken. In other words, speaking peace is meant to be our weapon of choice to literally push back the powers of darkness that are present right where we are in our own spheres of influence. If there is one thing the evil one cannot stand, it is the presence of God manifest through our peace. Indeed, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet!” (Rom. 16:20).

Points for Prayer:

  • Speak peace to your own house, and the households of your neighbors. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful” (Col. 3:15).
  • Spend the rest of today speaking peace and blessing over the houses of business, education and government, from Washington D.C. to your state, to your county, and to your community. Recite the name of the institution or office and declare, “Peace be to your house!”
  • Recite the names of people you know who are leading in the spheres of business, education and government, and boldly declare, “Peace be to your house!”

Binding the Spirit of Delay

Brett Kavanaugh’s Judiciary Committee vote has been moved from this Thursday, 9/20, to possibly next Thursday, 9/27. This allows for a hearing on Monday, 9/24, where he and Christine Blasey Ford will be able to testify under oath regarding Mrs. Ford’s allegations of sexual assault by Judge Kavanaugh when they were in high school. Both sides of the aisle agreed that this is appropriate. Mrs. Ford has not replied to Chairman Grassley’s office as to whether she will attend. Democrats want to extend the invitation to include other witnesses, but Sen. Grassley said the two alone are enough to resolve the matter. Regardless, this is a delay. Judge Kavanaugh continues to maintain his innocence through it all. While being sensitive to Mrs. Ford, one of Satan’s favorite tactics is delay. Politically, Democrats feel this situation could give them the opportunity to push the confirmation past the midterm elections, when they hope to gain a majority of the Senate. If that is the case, they will be in control of who fills the next Supreme Court Justice seat.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Take authority over the spirit of delay in this situation. Tell it to cease and desist. Say, “The decision of the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote on whether or not to send Judge Kavanaugh to the full Senate for a vote will not be delayed beyond Thursday, 9/27.”
  • Intercede for Christine Ford. Continue to pray that she would know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and that He would heal the effects of any trauma in her life. Pray that she will speak nothing but the truth while under oath.
  • Intercede for Brett Kavanaugh. Pray that truth would be revealed. Pray that he would press into Jesus and find comfort there. Pray protection over the emotions of his wife, Ashley, and daughters, Liza and Margaret.

A prayer you can pray:

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we take authority over every spirit attempting to delay the placement of a new Supreme Court Justice. The decision of the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote on whether or not to send Judge Kavanaugh to the full Senate for a vote will not be delayed beyond Thursday, 9/27. Both Christine Ford and Brett Kavanaugh should be able to defend their positions under oath on Monday. We pray for Christine, that she would know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, so all of the trauma she has been burdened with by the enemy can be healed. We ask that Brett Kavanaugh would know Christ, seek Him, and find the grace to be 100% truthful about this matter, so the Committee members know what to do. Cover Ashley, Liza, and Margaret with your protective hand, Lord. In Jesus’ loving name, amen.

Today’s decree:

No more delay!

Only A Pro-Life Justice

“Our President campaigned on the promise that he would appoint Pro-Life Justices who would reverse Roe v. Wade. The Nation voted for Him and for Pro-Life Justices. Do not back away from this position. We are Pro-life. The President is Pro-Life. The next Justice must be unashamedly Pro-Life. Promises Made – Promises Kept. Victory is coming.” (Phillip Jauregi)1

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” (Deuteronomy 30:19; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Can you imagine your children living in a nation that honors life? Stop and think about that.
  • Intercede for President Trump as he considers his appointee to the Supreme Court. He made a promise. It must be a person committed to a pro-life position.
  • Intercede for this yet-to-be-revealed candidate. Pray for them to have the strength under fire to not back down or compromise their strong pro-life stance.
  • Intercede passionately for the ending of abortion in America! Declare the reversal of Roe v Wade!  This dream is within reach now.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, it is emotionally overwhelming to think that we could soon have a nation that chooses life for the unborn. Our children and grandchildren could actually know what a life-choosing nation looks like. “Unwanted children” can have the opportunity for life in loving homes. Lots of strategies are needed for this and we desperately need Your plans, but the first step is for America to choose Life! Don’t let President Trump back down now. Let him remain his strong self and fulfill his campaign promise. God, end abortion in the United States of America! Jesus, we align with You, the Giver of Life. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Only a pro-life appointee can be considered for the new Supreme Court Justice!

Generations Warring Together

“Elisha gets brushed by the mantle of Elijah. This was a promise given to him by Elijah, but it wasn’t his mantle yet. So, what he does is stick with the prophet and he rests in the promises of God. When it comes time for the mantle to pass, he is not resting in the promises. He wars for the promise. It is a season to war for our promises! He begins to stick with Elijah all the way through to the end. For the older generations, you can’t go on alone. You have to be running with the next generation. Elijah’s best season as a prophet is when he anoints Elisha. Who is running with you and warring for your mantle? This is the season to work together and bust through and stick with it until America is busted through into her Third Great Awakening!” (Lou Engle)1

“When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal.  And Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to Bethel.’ But Elisha replied, ‘As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you!’ So they went down together to Bethel.” (2 Kings 2:1-2; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Are you an Elisha, a member of the generations under 50? War for your spiritual inheritance. Don’t go it alone. Who are you warring with?
  • Are you an Elijah, a member of the generations 50 and over? Who are your Elishas? Don’t go it alone. Who are you bringing with you?
  • Ask God for you Elijah or Elisha. Determine to war together with the generations that are coming behind you or that have gone before you.
  • War together for the Third Great Awakening to begin in this nation!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, the young need the old and the old need the young. Prophets need each other from generation to generation. Apostles need young apostles to mentor. Evangelists, pastors and teachers need mentors, so we can all run together to expand Your Kingdom in the United States. Divinely gather us together, Lord. Don’t let us run in isolation. We are so much better together! We will war in intercession together until we see the Third Great Awakening hit our shores like a tsunami! In Jesus mighty name, amen.

Today’s decree:

The Elijahs and Elishas will war together until the Third Great Awakening busts out in America!

The Command of the Lord of the Harvest

“The problem we have right now is not that we have so many unbelievers in the nation. The problem is that we don’t have enough laborers. Jesus came out seeing the masses, harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He gathered His leaders and said, ‘We’ve got a big problem here.’ He didn’t say, ‘Guys, we have this problem. Will you send up a couple of prayers? Maybe throw in a few words in tongues? Maybe pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send in a few laborers?’ That’s not what He said or how He said it! He came to them filled with pathos (passion) and said, ‘Pray!’ (It was a command!) He said the equivalent of ‘I command you to beg Me to send laborers!’ He was saying, ‘Cry out to Me to hurl forth those into the harvest that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free!’” (Lou Engle)1

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues…they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18; NCV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • You know all those unsavory unsaved people out there – the ones on the news – the ones participating in all kinds of sin? Jesus had compassion on them. Let that sink in.
  • Ask God to let you see the lost the way He sees them. Ask for His heart for them, as well.
  • Now, pray for their salvation with His heart cry!
  • Cry out to Him, “Hurl forth those into the harvest that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free! And, include me!”

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, let me see the unsaved as You see them. I’ll sit here quietly before You for a minute. Give me Your heart for them. Teach me to pray for them. Make me bold enough to minister to them before they come to know You, so they can see Your love and concern for them. Save them, Jesus! Hurl forth those into the harvest, including me, that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free! Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Kingdom harvesters are being thrust into the harvest fields of this nation!

Pray for Organizations Ministering at the Supreme Court

Pray for Allan E. Parker and The Justice Foundation, practicing before the Supreme Court to protect the fundamental freedoms and rights essential to the preservation of American society, often free of charge. Pray for Jay Sekulow and the American Council for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which does a similar thing.  “Pray for Phillip Jauregi and the Judicial Action Group, which deal with judicial nominations. They are Christian-based, seeking to support the best judges who will restore righteousness and justice to America. Pray for another group doing similar work called the Judicial Crisis Network. Pray also for the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation, who also play important roles in that process.” (Allan E. Parker)1

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” (Amos 5:24: ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede one by one for the individuals and organizations mentioned above.
  • Ask God to grant the constitutional attorneys  great favor in the courts, especially in the Supreme Court.
  • Ask God to give Phillip Jauregi and others doing similar things, more widespread influence as they make known the character and background of judicial appointees.
  • Pray that Believers presenting cases at the Supreme Court will gain greater respect and honor as they glorify God in the way they present religious liberty cases before the Court.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I intercede for the Christian constitutional attorneys and others that minister before the Supreme Court. Grant them favor, grace, and supernatural wisdom to know how to present their cases. Let the justices gain great respect for them and listen to their arguments on behalf of the saints and others fighting for religious liberty. I also pray for those who minister alongside and influence the activities of the Court. Help them to know how to share with the Church the things we need to know to pray well for cases being presented, judges being nominated, and other constitutional issues being decided. We say, “Grace, grace, grace, to them, Jesus.” Amen.

Today’s decree:

Let justice roll down like waters in this nation, and righteousness like an ever flowing stream!

He is Risen!

Jesus Christ is risen! He received terrible lashes for our healing. He died to deal with the sin and iniquity of all mankind. He rose from the dead and defeated death, hell and the grave! He has dealt with every vestige of the curse of Adam! If we have accepted Christ, why then do so many of us live in such defeat? What revelation do we need to see the appropriation of the blessings of our eternal life in Him? The Bible says we must only believe.

“Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’” (Mark 5:36; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Today we are going to pray the Word. Jesus is the Living Word. If you are born again, all of these promises are yours. Let faith arise in you to make these scriptural declarations.
  • “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20; NIV)
  • “If You can?” echoed Jesus. ‘All things are possible to him who believes!’” (Mark 9:23; NIV) Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’” (Mark 9:24; NIV)
  • Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24; NIV)
  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16; NIV)
  • “But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, ’Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.’” (Luke 8:50; NIV)
  • “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13; NIV)

A prayer you can pray:

(Today, declare the scriptures above. If you get stuck on one or find it hard to declare, take your time and talk through it with the Lord. Jesus died to set you free! Happy Resurrection Day!)

Today’s decree:

I am a BELIEVER in the Lord, Jesus Christ!

Holy Hubert Lindsey

I remember Holy Hubert Lindsey. Most of you have never heard of him before. He was a small man who was very non-Charismatic in his delivery and personality. You would never pick him out of a crowd as a leader or someone significant. In the 1960’s, God began to break his heart for the troubled youth of America. Some were on drugs and turning to sex in the middle of the sexual revolution. Youth were disillusioned, rioting, angry over the Vietnam War and other political issues of the day. They experienced hypocrisy of church leadership and their parents. So, Dr. Lindsey went to Berkeley, where it was all starting. He said, “I didn’t know what to do, so I started to walk the streets of Berkeley all night long, weeping and praying.” I said to God, ‘Would You give me these kids? Give us revival. Give us this generation back.’” He paid a great price for his persistent intercession and campus preaching, but the result was what has been determined to be the beginning of “The Jesus Movement”. It was the greatest wave of youth evangelism in the history of the world.

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” (Psalm 85:6; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Do you want this? Do you want revival for today’s American youth?
  • Think about today’s campus climate. Write down the issues you know face the youth today.
  • Intercede over those issues, stirring up passion as you pray.
  • Repeat after Holy Hubert Lindsey, “Would You give me these kids? Give us revival. Give us this generation back!”
  • Go out and prayer walk or prayer drive your neighborhood schools or the schools of your city, if you are really ambitious.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I am deeply grieved over the condition of our youth in America. I want to see them radically saved and on fire for You! I want them to know Your love and unconditional forgiveness! I long to see them in revival! The issues of the 1960s were awful. Today’s are even worse. Our society has been on a downward slide away from You for a very long time. God, hear our prayers for our children and children’s children! Give us these kids. Give us this generation back! Heal their pain and remove the effects of their rebellion. I will go out and pray at the places they are congregated and cry out for them in Jesus name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

I demand this generation of America youth back!
