The Next Generation Will Go Further – In Intimacy With Him

The re-taking of Hebron prepared the way for the next generation to accomplish its destiny. After he conquered this city, Caleb went to the city next door, Kiriath Sepher. He said to those with him, “I showed you how to do it. Now, who’s going to go take that city?” His nephew, Othniel, said, “I’ll do it.” The spirit of Caleb had gotten onto Othniel. He basically said, “If Uncle Caleb can do it…” He must have realized that it wasn’t about Caleb. He knew it wasn’t about the size of the giant or the stronghold, or the underworld. It was all about how strong his faith was. And, Caleb’s faith was not in himself. He had the Spirit of faith with him. His faith was not in his own ability. So, that Spirit of faith jumped on Othniel.

Othniel conquered his city and he renamed his city, also. He named his city “Debir”. Debir is another name for the Holy of Holies. Debir comes from the root word “dabar”, which means “word” or “Oracle”. Since the Holy of Holies is the place from which God spoke, the Hebrews called the Holy of Holies, “the Oracle of the House”. In Hebrew it would be, “the debir of the House”. In other words, “That’s the place from which God talks.” The word “Word” in “the Word of the Lord” is the word “dabar”. It was almost as if Othniel was saying, “Uncle Caleb, if you can have intimacy with Him, and you can rename the city ‘friendship’,  my generation can go even farther. We can live in the innermost sanctuary of the Lord.”

Othniel represents the Word of the Lord being re-established. The result is intimacy with God.

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • In light of the article above, meditate on today’s scripture: “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16; NASB)
  • Also, carefully consider Romans 10:8, “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;’ that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” (WEB)
  • Talk to the Lord about giving you greater revelation on being the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Living Word of God dwells in you, that temple. How can you not experience a new level of intimacy with the One you Who is indwelling you?
  • Worship Him.
  • Ask for an increase of faith from the generation that has gone before you.
  • Intercede for the generation behind you. Pray they will have an even deeper level of intimacy than you do.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we are going to see deliverance come to this generation. We are going to see cities rebuilt, even inner cities rebuilt. We’ll see families restored. We will see a generation arise that are empowered with the spirit of Caleb and Othniel. We are going to see transformation. We are going to see awakening and reformation. We are going to understand that we are the temple of the Living God, the Holy God, the one true God, the one and only God. God, the Holy Spirit, You indwell us. We should look different and act different than the world around us, not in some strange, religious way, but because of Your Presence with us. Give us a fresh passion for Your Word. Fill us with Your Word and teach us. Let it transform our hearts, our lives, and everything we do and speak into. Let faith speak from us. Let hope be expressed through us. Let revelation of You change us and draw others to You in us. Let the next generation watch us and want what we have. We don’t want them repelled by our religiosity, but compelled by our intimacy with You in Jesus Name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Let Your Words in my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, draw the next generation to You, Lord, my strength, and my redeemer!

The Power of Our Tears

“The Lord woke me up this morning with the word ‘tears’.

“I sat up in bed and He showed me a very vivid picture of a woman that was on her knees weeping and seemed to be in travail over the church in America. She was crying out much like we hear about when we read the prophet Jeremiah. When I walked around to the front of this woman, I noticed that her tears where beautiful and pure and I could almost feel the Lord’s delight in them. She was frantically digging in the soil in front of her. I was in shock when I noticed that as her tears fell to the ground they literally turned into seeds that begin to take root immediately. The Lord reminded me of Psalms 126:5-6 where it says, ‘Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.’

“As I’m having this vision, I sat back and said, ‘Lord what does this mean,’ because my mind began to race with excitement and ideas. I heard the Holy Spirit with a soft voice say ‘I still believe in my bride. I still believe in her beauty.’ I sat there and began to weep, myself, as I thought about all the intercessors that I have known that spend hours a day in prayer over the church in America. The Father still believes in His church. The seeds of the tears of the saints are beginning to take root.

“When you study tears, you find there are three main scientific discoveries about them:

  1. When a person cries, toxins that are in the body begin to be pushed out.
  2. The body releases its own immune boost and cells that are sick begin to receive healing and not just in the eyes (one part of the body), but as a whole.
  3. Last but not least, there have been recorded accounts of dead cells becoming alive again.

“What does this mean for the church?

  1. As we weep again, toxins (sin) is being pushed out.
  2. Healing begins to happen in the entire body.
  3. Dead cells become alive again. (Harvest.) Sound familiar?

“‘If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’ (2 Chronicles 7:14; NASB)

“I believe that we are about to see a release of what I can only refer to as the ministry of tears in the body again. That will lead us into one of the greatest harvests we have ever seen. Beloved, not just a harvest of the lost, but an awakening in the church again. This is not just an encouraging vision, but a call to action. A call to once again pray, fast, and weep. A call to walk in a lifestyle of holiness, mission, and identity.” (Russell Wood)

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the people. Consecrate the congregation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her chamber. Between the vestibule and the altar let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep and say, ‘Spare your people, O Lord.’” (Joel 2:15-17a; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Very slowly and carefully, pray the well-known verse, 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’”
  • Ask the Lord for a move of holiness, mission, and identity to sweep over the Body of Christ.
  • Call for the Bride of Christ to come to the altar of the Lord and weep for the nation. Call for the wailing women. Call for everyone to come – the old, the children, the newlyweds, the parents, the middle-aged, every color, every language, every denomination. We need them all!
  • Bless the beautiful tears. Bless the beautiful ones led to cry them. Close your eyes and see the tears fall to the ground as seeds, then burst forth from the ground as harvest!
  • Praise God for the Harvest! It is coming!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we intercede as Your people who are called by Your name. We choose to humble ourselves, and pray and seek Your face. Lord, we choose to turn from our wicked ways. Forgive us our sin.  You promise to then hear us from Your vantage point in heaven, to forgive our sin and heal our land. We call for the beautiful Bride of Christ to come to Your altar and weep for America. You love Your Bride, Jesus. Who are we to ever criticize her or attempt to hold her back from her intercession and work of Kingdom expansion? Yet, we do it all the time. So, we repent and call for every Believer to come and pray. We call for the old, the children, the newlyweds, the parents, the middle-aged; every color, every language, every denomination. May we now put our faces to the ground and cry out together for our future; together for the harvest; together for Your Kingdom to come and Will to be done in this nation. Bless the Bride’s beautiful tears. Let them fall as seeds into the ground of this country. Cause them to grow quickly into a great harvest of Awakening – so great we cannot even comprehend it. Let it break our baskets and nets, Holy Spirit. Let Holiness and Harvest overtake us! May our tearful intercession have great reward in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Let the Bride of Christ gather and weep and cry out together over this land, “Spare Your people, Lord!”

Sacred Duty

“Every headstone at Arlington (National Cemetery) tells a story. ‘These are the tales of heroes’, I thought as I put the toe of my combat boot against the white marble. I pulled a miniature American flag out of my assault pack and I pushed it three inches into the ground with my heel. I stepped aside to inspect it, making sure it met the precise standard we had briefed to our troops that day – vertical and perpendicular to the headstone. Satisfied, I moved to the next headstone to keep up with my soldiers. Having started this row, I now had to complete it. One soldier per row was our rule. Otherwise, other boot sizes might disrupt the perfect symmetry of the headstones to the flags.

“I planted flag after flag, as did the soldiers in the rows around me. Bending over to plant those flags, from eye level to the lettering on the marble stones, stories continued with each one—distinguished service cross, silver star, bronze star, purple heart. America’s wars marched by – Iraq, Afghanistan, Viet Nam, Korea, World War II, World War I. Some soldiers died in their old age. Others were still teenagers. Crosses, Stars of David, Crescents and Stars, every religion, every race, every age, and every region of America was represented in these fields of stone.” (Senator Tom Cotton, R-AR)

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Romans 12:9-10; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • We struggle to understand honor. Consider the definitions here.
  • In Greek, the word for honor is “time” (say, tee-may). It means “to value”. It can bestow value. It is shown to one who has risen by rank or state of office. It is reverence, and entails deference. It is dignity, esteem of the highest degree, or something precious. Stop and think about all that for a minute in light of honoring those who have fought for, and even given their lives for our freedom.
  • Pray for veterans today, especially if you know them. Pray for their families.
  • Find a way to honor a former soldier, living or gone.
  • Tell a veteran, “Thank you for your service.” Try to make time to visit with them and hear their story, before the only place to find it is on the marker of their grave. Ask if you can pray with them. Maybe lead them to Jesus, if they have not already found Him.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, there are those in our society that we should honor. Soldiers are some of those. Regardless of their background or choices they may have made in life, if they have served our society to keep us free, then we can take a minute to show honor to them. We should esteem them and consider their many sacrifices as precious. Let us take a few minutes and look at what honor means, in English and in Your Word. We want to show honor well, and with a complete understanding, Your Holy Spirit can go to work. We should tell them so! We should take a minute and find out what their story is, praying for them if they will allow us the honor. Holy Spirit, lead them to Jesus, the One to whom belongs the highest honor. Let us be an instrument of Your love and honor. We can put flags at headstones, but how much better to offer honor to the living, retired soldier? Marry compassion and honor in our hearts for our veterans, in Jesus name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

May the Church make it our sacred duty to honor our veterans wherever we find them!

Prophetic Message From Dutch Sheets – Day 9
We Have Everything We Need Now!

A man that I know had a dream the night before we held our recent meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “I dreamed last night (the first night of the meeting in Atlantic City) that you (Dutch) were being presented a skeleton key.” Chuck then prophesied to the atmosphere and a keyhole appeared in the sky. He said, “You inserted the key.” (It’s interesting to see here how the Lord uses the apostolic and the prophetic together.)

So, I’m given a key. Keys are my thing (Isaiah 22:22). The prophet begins to prophesy and a keyhole begins to form in the atmosphere. I take the key and I put it in the hole and I turned it until a doorway was opened in the heavens. A voice spoke from the heavens, “Welcome into an ancient pathway reserved for this time. Here are the resources needed to complete the turning of this nation.”

So, I just say to you that we, the praying Church of America, have everything we need now. We’ve accomplished what we’ve needed to accomplish. There’s been enough repentance. There’s been enough humbling ourselves. There’s been enough fasting. There’s been enough prayer. There’s been enough of us standing in the gap, making decrees, breaking through the heavens. Now, the door is open! There’s an open door over us now and we can go back into the ancient pathways and grab what we had lost. We have everything we need now to turn this nation.

“The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.” (Isaiah 22:22; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray for the increase of the foundation of the apostles and prophets in the nation.
  • Intercede for them to find one another and build according to the biblical plan for the Church, that it may be strengthened, and God’s Kingdom advanced more quickly.
  • Decree Isaiah 22:22, “The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.”
  • Pray for the praying Church to see the open door over us, so we can go find the ancient paths, grab what was lost, and get the job of turning the nation done!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we need the foundation of the apostles and prophets in America. We have not understood this since the days of the Church in the Book of Acts. Thank You for restoring this truth to us. We’ve been building pastor-centered churches, but that wasn’t Your model. As a result, though the pastors are wonderful, we have a church with limited power and authority. As the apostles and prophets work together, the Kingdom will advance in whole regions at a time. You have given us the key of the House of David. With them, doors will be opened that no man can shut, and doors will be shut, so that they can’t be opened by anyone on the earth. Your Kingdom plans will come to pass and the enemy will not be able to stop it. The heavenly doors forming over us will reveal ancient paths and plans and ways—Your ways—and, Jesus, we will go get them and proclaim them and live them to Your Glory. Amen.

Today’s decree:

We have everything we need now to turn this nation!

Satan is on a Mission, but He is Not Destined to Win

“Whether we believe it or not, it is a fact that Satan is on a mission — a mission as simple as it is single-minded. He is out to steal our passion and he is determined to accomplish it. Imagine how effective he can be if he can carry out this one task — this one pursuit. This one thing he desperately needs to achieve. In far too many ways he is succeeding.

“Too often Christians fret and complain about the future; they cry and moan about Satan’s many victories in the world, how he is winning so many battles and gaining so much momentum in this country, as well as around the world. They talk as if Satan is destined to win. ‘We’re losing our kids to the culture,’ they say. ‘Our churches are dying in numbers, and our society is growing more evil by the day.’ I see it myself, but I know that when Satan is winning, it is because the people of God are cowering in retreat instead of standing up and facing the enemy with courage. They are giving up too easily.

“I long to see a day when Christians stand shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, in this war with Satan and finally draw a line in the sand, right in the middle of his path. You can be a part of this army of soldiers rising up against Satan in this day. Let your heart be ignited by the Holy Spirit and become a warrior in this huge battle for God. The war is being waged, so take up your sword and find your place within his ranks!” (Nicky Cruz)

“When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Determine to speak differently! Let the words that come out of your mouth be faith statements.
  • Say, “Our children will serve the Lord and shift the culture!”
  • Announce to the enemy, “The Body of Christ is learning to love one another and operate as one. Unity is where the Lord commands His blessings. The unity of the Body of Christ will undo all of your evil plans.”
  • Declare, “Our churches are full of the life-giving resurrection power of Jesus. They are expanding and growing in number every day!”
  • Proclaim, “The world is growing darker, but the Church is growing brighter and we will see multitudes come to Christ in America!”
  • Get out your Bible and find more scriptures to proclaim. Defeat the enemy with the Word of God just like Jesus did.

A prayer you can pray:

God, we are Your Church! How dare the enemy taunt us. He has successfully caused some of us to move into a place of doubt and unbelief. Lord, put a check on our mouth! Remove our fear! Help us remember that Your plan is for the Church to win! You call us overcomers. You call us victorious! We will line up our words with Your Word and say the things that stop the enemy in his tracks. We will stand strong, unafraid of the culture seeming to grow dark around us. Filled with the Holy Spirit, we become the light in the darkness. We light the dark corners, where the enemy is encroaching in the land. We expose his work and call him out. We put notice on the enemy and say, “The Body of Christ is learning who we are. We are learning to love one another and operate as one. You had better shake in your shoes, because unity is where the Lord commands His blessings. The unity of the Body of Christ will undo all of your evil plans.” Jesus, thank you for filling our churches full of the life-giving resurrection power of Jesus. They are expanding and growing in number every day! Our children will not be overcome or drawn away by Satan. We will not lose them to the seduction of the spirit of this age. They will serve Jesus, for we have raised them to know Him. They will influence the culture around them. Not the other way around. The world is growing darker, but the Church is growing brighter and we will see multitudes come to Christ in America! Amen.

Today’s decree:

Our hearts ignited by the Holy Spirit will propel us to overcome all the strategies of Satan against our nation!

Glory to the Name of Jesus!

“Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
He is to be feared above all gods.
The gods of (the) nations are mere idols,
But the Lord made the heavens!
Honor and majesty surround him;
Strength and joy fill his dwelling.
O nations of the world, recognize the Lord,
Recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong.
Give to the Lord the glory he deserves.
Bring your offering and come into his presence.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.
Let all the earth tremble before him.
The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.
Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice!
Tell all the nations, ‘The Lord reigns!’”
(1 Chronicles 16:23-31; NLT)

Our God is Holy! His Son is worthy of our worship! He sent His Holy Spirit to help us. Glory to His Name! His righteousness is from everlasting to everlasting! He reigns over our lives and over our nation! We have just finished 70 days humbly petitioning, declaring, decreeing, prophesying, and worshiping His Holy Name over our states and nation! We have called righteousness into this nation. Now, we must walk it out. This is impossible without His redemptive work on the cross. So, we thank Him and praise Him and declare His Goodness to us. His righteousness will save our nation!

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Let us sing to the Lord! Worship with Upper Room Dallas’ version of “Jesus Paid it All.”
  • Proclaim the good news that He saves!
  • Declare His glorious deeds. Speak out loud the amazing things He is doing.
  • Give to the Lord the glory he deserves. Tell someone about Jesus today. Tell them how he saved you, healed you, delivered you, re-made you, provided for you. Tell someone they can know Him like that, too.
  • Say over the nation, “The Lord reigns over America!”

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, may this nation, the United States of America, lead the way in showing forth Your glory among the nations! We have a reputation as a Christian nation, but we seem far from that reputation. We pray that we have experienced a reset over the last 70 days. Our hearts have turned toward You in a new and deeper way. State by state, we proclaimed Your righteousness over America. State by state, we reminded ourselves of the words You have spoken over us. You have made promises to us that have been stirred in our hearts once again. Jesus, You gave everything for us, now work all Your work of righteousness in us. We glorify Your marvelous Name! We will make Your deeds known, as we encounter others who need to hear about You. We will tell the lost, You save. We will tell the sick, You heal. We will tell the addicted, You deliver. We will tell the poor, You are Provider. Lord, You reign! You reign over our lives and You reign over America! You reign, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:
The Lord reigns in America and His righteousness will save our nation!

70 Days – Righteousness Exalts a Nation – Day 43

GiveHim15 will be collaborating with Love Ministries in a very special 70-day prayer focus. We are going to take a stand for righteousness in the United States of America  from February 9th through Passover, April 19th.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34; NASB)

REBUILDING THE WALL OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IN OUR NATION, STATES, AND TERRITORIES – 52 Day State Prayer Focus: Day 25: Missouri, August 10, 1821

We are in one of the most incredible harvest years! It is pregnant with the promises of God. It is a culmination and convergence of the fullness of time that will bring forth what many of us have carried for years. We are seeing and experiencing the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Everyday, we are seeing the manifestation of the hand of God working in the land. The hand of the Lord is stretched out and He is pushing back the resistance!

“Then Moses said, ‘Now show me your glory.’ And the Lord said, ‘I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence.’” (Exodus 33:18-19; NIV)

Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what God the Lord will say; He promises peace to his people, his saints — but let them not return to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.” (Psalm 85:7-13; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes of prayer:

  • Decree the above Scriptures over our nation and the State of Missouri.
  • Pray for Missouri’s Governor Mike Parson and all governmental authority in this State. Pray for this state to be plumbed in righteousness.
  • 52 Day State Prayer Focus: Missouri (Algonquian: “canoe haver”).
  • Statehood: August 10, 1821 (24th State).
  • Motto: (The Welfare of the People Shall Be the Supreme Law).
  • Familiar Name: The Show-Me State.
  • 50-State Tour: The “Show Me Your Glory” State (October 30-31, 2003).
  • Decree the Preamble of the State of Missouri: “We, the people of Missouri, with profound reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, and grateful for His goodness, do establish this Constitution for the better government of the state.”

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we come into agreement with Your kingdom plan and purposes for our nation and State of Missouri. Missouri, there is a river whose streams make glad the city of God flowing within you. It is God’s river of life.  Your righteousness is shining because you have chosen life. This river is becoming a river of life for the nation. The Father’s “Show Me State” will see and manifest the glory and goodness of God. You will hear and obey the voice of the Lord. Missouri, greater works will you do in the name of the Lord and your land will yield its harvest.

“This state will be known as one who opened the prison doors…. I will say to you today, what I do in this state and how I use this state will tingle the ears of this nation. Put your ear to the ground, for this will be a group that will run faster than the horses in Missouri. I am setting a course in Missouri that will control and open up the gates of this land. My hand is now upon you.” (Chuck Pierce, 50 States Tour)

“He (God) said, ‘I am going to show the “show me” state signs and wonders and great miracles. Because when the cloud comes, you can’t help but have signs and wonders and miracles. And you can’t help but have harvest because impregnation, conception, occurs and the seed of life is deposited and something comes forth.’ God is going to show His glory to the ‘Show Me’ state. The river of God will flow through Missouri bringing signs, wonders, and miracles. God is releasing the ‘seer’ anointing, opening the eyes of Missouri to see prophetically. Four cities will have a release of evangelism that will overtake them: Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City, and Carthage…This state will set the captives free. Isaiah 49 declares, ‘Come out! Be free!’” (Dutch Sheets, 50 State Tour)

We decree, “‘Missouri, Missouri, rise up into your destiny. You have held back your finest hour with your doubt, fear and religious goodness.  The portal is opening over you in a new way and a new wave.  A wave of glory awaits your response. Look away from your busyness, your traditional gatherings, and allow me to invade your space. You will lead the way if you do not stand in the way. You will shift the death structure of this nation by your refusal to bow to cultural norms and arrogant agendas. Listen to me and live,’ says the Lord.’ Listen to me for direction. The way is opening for you. Do not delay in your obedience. Your new wineskin is forming.  The old one will not hold what I am about to pour out.’” (Regina Shank 3/22/19)

Father, we thank you that Missouri possesses her birthright and prophetic destiny. We decree, “Missouri, has an ear to hear what the Spirit of the Lord is speaking to the Church. Rise Up in the obedience of the Son of God and enter into your inheritance, in Jesus Name!” Amen.

The 70 Day Decree:

Lord God, we present ourselves unto You a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). We acknowledge and declare that we are filled with the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:11). Your Word tells us that righteousness exalts a nation (Proverbs 14:34). We stand before You in the land You have given us, and we decree and release the righteousness of Christ into our territories, spheres of influence, our cities, states, and nation in order to bring healing, revival, awakening, and reformation to America. Father, let Your Spirit of righteousness be released and established in us, and in every place in which You have given us jurisdiction. Let Your righteous Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10)! Prepare the soil of this nation and realign us with Your righteousness! In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

70 Days – Righteousness Exalts a Nation – Day 26

GiveHim15 will be collaborating with Love Ministries in a very special 70-day prayer focus. We are going to take a stand for righteousness in the United States of America  from February 9th through Passover, April 19th.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34; NASB)

REBUILDING THE WALL OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IN OUR NATION, STATES, AND TERRITORIES – 52 Day State Prayer Focus: Day 9: Maryland, April 28,1788

The seed of the righteous will be delivered! The word of the Lord stands forever. What He has promised, He will bring about. Let us stand fast and see the incorruptible seed of the living and enduring Word of God come forth in our lives and land! He who promises is faithful and He will do it!

“Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.” (Proverbs 11:21; WEB)

“No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.” (1 John 3:9; NIV)

“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.”” (1 Peter 1:23-25; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes of prayer:

  • Decree the above Scriptures over our nation and the state of Maryland.
  • 52 Day State Prayer Focus: Maryland (named after Queen Henrietta Maria of England.
  • Statehood: April 28, 1788.
  • Motto: Fatti maschii, parole femine (Manly Deeds, Womanly Words).
  • Familiar Name: The Old Line State.
  • 50-State Tour: I will awaken the seed and open the womb (Dutch Sheets).
  • Decree the Preamble of the State of Maryland: “We, the People of the State of Maryland, grateful to Almighty God for our civil and religious liberty, and taking into our serious consideration the best means of establishing a good Constitution in this State for the sure foundation and more permanent security thereof, declare…”

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we acknowledge that we are the seed of righteousness in Christ Jesus. We come into agreement and decree Your Word over our nation and the state of Maryland, “Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.” (Proverbs 11:21; WEB) “No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God” (1 John 3:9; NIV). “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God… the word of the Lord stands forever”” (1 Peter 1:23-25; NIV). We acknowledge and come into agreement with your kingdom plan and purposes for our nation and the state of Maryland. We ask that You align Maryland in your righteousness. We call Maryland into the original intent of her birthright and destiny, as ordained by Almighty God. We agree with the prophetic destiny of this nation and the state of Maryland. Father, we thank you that according to Your prophetic word, “What the Lord stirs in this state will cause a whole nation to be stirred …we declare Maryland to be a state of reversal,” and certain laws that will change here will cause the nation to be changed.” Return to your righteous history, Maryland, for you are the state that “kept the line.” We decree, “Maryland, you are the state where the righteous line of God is drawn. No word spoken by God is without power. We declare, Maryland will hold the line! Lord, awaken the seed and open the womb of the state of Maryland for Your glory. Let Your gifts be stirred up in this state. Let this state rise up and give birth to the seed of Your Word that will literally stir our nation. Deliver this state in your righteousness.  In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask these things. Amen.

Amen.

Thoughts on Black History Month

“Let’s reflect this month on the President’s campaign promises to address racism by ensuring us that ‘when we give everyone a great America, safety, security, a reason to belong, that will serve the issue.’ The President also stated early in his post as Commander-in-Chief, “No matter what color our skin is, we all bleed red.’ His insight into the One Blood truth, coupled with his frequent reminders that: ‘We don’t serve government, we serve God; in God we trust,’ are encouraging to say the least.

“It’s also important to note that while we are One Blood/One Race (Acts 17:26), the Black/African American Community still celebrates a month educating the masses regarding many notable contributions of Blacks in America that are unknown and undocumented in certain historical annuls. These efforts are designed to unite us; never divide us. Herein is a key unlocking Racial Reconciliation. (Dr. Alveda King)

“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.” (Acts 17:26; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray the prayer of Jesus, asking Him to make all Christians one, even as He and the Father are one.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we will contend for the ending of racism in America. While not confined to black and white, the way African Americans have been treated throughout the history of America gives us a good view into racism in general in this nation. We pray that You would help us go out of our way to love one another, regardless of color. Rather than be “color-blind”, we choose to see the beauty in the diversity of races You created. May we educate ourselves on the contributions to our nation’s history that people of color specifically provided. May we purposefully work together to integrate our communities and that “most divided hour every Sunday morning.” In working hard to understand one another, and strategically praying for and serving one another, form us into one Body of Believers, even as You are one. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The American Church of all colors will celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the rich heritage of our nation!

PRAY IN UNITY

Day 8 – God’s Blueprint for America

“Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, ‘If you return to the LORD with all your heart, remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you and direct your hearts to the LORD and serve Him alone; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.’”

(1 Samuel 7:3; NASB)

God did an amazing thing when He birthed this nation. In the hearts of our Founding Fathers, He placed the desire to form a nation based upon the realization that it is God who makes laws—man only legislates them. God is the one who gives rights to individuals, and those rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

At the same time, our Founding Fathers perfectly understood that man is flawed and that power is intoxicating. Their experience with the Throne of England and its abuses was fresh in their minds and caused them to structure the new government based upon Scripture (Isaiah 33:22) to create a bicameral Congress with two branches, as well as the three branches of the federal government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The Legislative branch creates laws, the Executive branch executes the laws, and the Judicial branch enforces the laws. The separation of powers with the proper balance is critical to a government led by fallen man. This mix of theology and practicality has produced the longest standing constitution in the history of mankind!

And yet, over the past few decades, we have seen much “overreach” of power as branches of our government attempt to meddle in areas they shouldn’t. This is where we need to understand what an “originalist” is. From a constitutional standpoint, an originalist is a person who believes that the Constitution should be interpreted with the views of the original authors. Simply put, our Constitution should be interpreted as our Founding Fathers viewed the issues. It is not to be reinterpreted according to the whims of the prevailing culture. In other words, the Constitution is not meant to be a “living document.”

The way Evangelical Christians interpret the Bible is very similar. Seminarians are taught not to take Scriptures out of context, but to discern what the author intended to communicate and what the original audience understood the message to be. This is absolutely critical; otherwise any culture or speaker with charisma could twist the Word of God to their own meaning.

If we believe that the birth of this nation was a miracle, if we believe that our Constitution is the most Christian document of its kind in the history of mankind, if we believe that our Constitution correctly understands God’s blueprint for government while correctly weighing the sinful nature of man, then I would argue that we should pray that our government would be reformed to our Creator’s intent.

To take it a step further, many of our Founding Fathers were raised during the greatest revival in our nation’s history, The First Great Awakening, when they formed their biblical worldviews. Revival preceded the miracle of our nation. Prayer preceded this revival. We must pray for the reformation of our government.

Points for Prayer:

  • That our government leaders would embrace a biblical structure (Isaiah 33:22).
  • That our government leaders would understand the fallen nature of man and how that influences legislation (Romans 3:23).
  • That our government leaders would understand they are held accountable by God (Micah 5:15).
  • That our government would legislate with the Fear of the Lord (Isaiah 33:6).
  • That our government would be filled with capable leaders (Exodus 18:21).
  • That our governmental leaders would put their hope in the Lord (Psalm 33:18).
  • That God would build a biblical worldview into our government leaders of tomorrow and that they would have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).
