What Was the Founding Fathers’ Intent?

In 1782, the Congress of the United States voted this resolution, “The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.” (*) Did you just read that? Read it again. This group that supposedly did not want God to have anything to do with public life or any government paid-for facility voted that the Bible was very good to be used in schools. In fact, did you know that one of the first acts of the Continental Congress, after they signed the Declaration of Independence, was to order 25,000 Bibles from Europe to pass out to the people of America? I doubt if you heard that in school.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Declare, “The Bible will be welcomed in schools once again.”
  • Identificationally repent for the actions our Courts and education administrators have taken to ban the Bible in the school system.
  • Encourage your children to take their Bibles to school to read in free reading time. Get young ones Bible story books to read.
  • Ask your school librarians to add Christian literature to the bookshelves. If there are any books on other religions, humanism, magic, etc., that is the open door for your request.
  • If you are college-aged, insert Bible quotes, stories, examples, and concepts into the papers you write and reports you present.
  • If you are a teacher, take your own Bible to school and read it in your own free time. Start a Bible study with other teachers. It is not against the law or the Constitution. It just makes some people around you nervous.
  • Intercede for a fresh wind of Bible-welcomeness in your local schools.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I declare, “The Bible will be welcomed in schools once again.” Forgive our judges and the administrators of our educational system for their ban on Bibles. This is not how America was founded. Your Word was so welcome for at least 150 years. Why should just a few people who don’t know You or understand the transforming power of Your Word decide to eliminate it from our schools? I will determine to be a voice for its re-insertion into the school system by encouraging students from the youngest to the oldest to take their Bibles to school. They should read them, quote them in papers and reports, and live according to its principles. Give teachers the boldness to study the Word in their free time at school, separately and together. Make those around them curious and hungry to see what that’s all about, Holy Spirit. Let our witness be filled with love and grace. Let Your holy wind blow over Your Word and perform it through Your Church in the schools, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

America will once again honor the Word of God!

The Price Paid For Removing One Simple Prayer

“Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.” What price have we paid for removing this simple prayer from our schools, which acknowledged God’s protective hand in our lives? Birth rates for unwed girls aged 15-19 are out of control. Sexually transmitted disease among 10-14 year-olds is rampant. Premarital sex increased. Violent crime increased. Adolescent homicide has gone up considerably since 1962, even after taking into account population growth. The Bible prior to 1962 was used extensively in curriculums. After prayer and the Bible were removed, scholastic aptitude test scores dropped considerably. All of this is documented. This doesn’t even take into account 67 million aborted babies! This also doesn’t mention the rise of euthanasia. Our founding fathers did not even remotely intend to remove God from anything to do with government or public life.

“‘Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’ Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing.” (Joel 2:12-14a; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Identificationally repent for the removal of prayer in our educational system, leading to the removal of the honoring of God in many spheres.
  • Declare, “We will return to You, honor You, and worship You in every sphere of society.”
  • Pray the simple prayer: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.”
  • Welcome God into this nation. Declare that regardless of what our government officials have decreed, we, the Ekklesia, decree, “You are welcome in our schools, halls of government, and marketplace.”

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, forgive our Supreme Court Justices, presidents, school boards, and other governmental leaders that felt prayer did not belong in the public arena, but only in our homes and churches. How foolish that thought process is! It leaves a huge hole that every other form of religion and doctrine of men comes in and tries to fill—with disastrous results! However, in our generation, we will return to You, honor You, and worship You in every sphere of society. Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country. You are welcome in our schools, halls of government, and marketplace. In Jesus’ loving and forgiving name, amen.

Today’s decree:

God, we fling the doors of welcome open to You in America!

Removing Prayer In School

On June 25, 1962, the Supreme Court of the United States removed prayer from schools based on Engel v Vitale. For 185 years, prayer was allowed in public institutions and the Constitutional Convention itself was opened in prayer. If the founding fathers didn’t want prayer in schools, why did they pray publicly in official meetings? The U. S. Supreme Court, with no precedent in any court history, said prayer will be removed from schools. Here’s how harmful the prayer in question was: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.” That was the offensive prayer.

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Declare, “Prayer wasn’t removed from schools, like the judges supposed. It was sent like a seed to die and now it will spring forth in multiplied prayers in schools everywhere!”
  • Declare, “Our schools will be filled with prayer!”
  • Get your children ready. Teach them and train them how to pray. They can start a movement by standing next to their desks, bowing their heads and quietly praying before they sit down. They do not have to even make a disturbance. They can gather and pray for their school and nation at the flagpole every day, not just one day a year.
  • Determine to raise your children to fear God and not man. Yes, they can pray at home, but why shouldn’t they pray everywhere they go? Does your family pray over meals in restaurants? Then, they can pray over lunch in the cafeteria.

A prayer you can pray:

Prayer wasn’t removed from schools, like the judges supposed. It was sent like a seed to die and now it will spring forth in multiplied prayers in schools everywhere! Our schools will be filled with prayer! Jesus, teach us to teach our children to pray. Let us give them God-ideas every day to fill their school with prayer! We want to start a student-led prayer revolution in the schools. They will publicly pray for their school and nation before they go in. They will pray at their desks before they sit down. They will pray over their lunches. They will pray in groups on playgrounds and quads at lunch time. They will pray at sporting events and at graduations. They will unashamedly pray! Far from the courts shutting down prayer, the persecution will have only made us more bold. What have we been waiting for? Jesus, lead us, guide us, and direct us. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Our schools will experience a prayer revolution!

Prayer for Government Leadership

The month of July 2018 has been designated by a number of Christian leaders as a month the Church of America will pray for America. This level of unity can get the job done! We don’t have to all pray the same way. We just have to pray. God knows our heart and will honor the unity of the saints in the bond of love. Let’s get ready for July by beginning now to pray for our national leadership. Ronnie Floyd, the Chairman of the National Day of Prayer, has given us a list of matters to pray for our governmental leadership. You can find them below.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord like channels of water; he turns it wherever he wants.” (Proverbs 21:1; NET)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • O Lord, our needs are great, and we appeal to You for resolve, cooperation, and leadership regarding the challenging issues of:
    • America’s climbing debt
    • Immigration
    • Religious freedom nationally and internationally
    • Healthcare
    • Opioid and drug crisis
    • Security of our nation internally and externally
    • Ongoing challenges in Israel and in the Middle East, as the United States Embassy in Israel has now been moved to Jerusalem
    • Judicial and political appointment processes to be expedited
    • Tax reform
    • Sexual harassment and abuse
    • Sanctity and dignity of all human life from conception through death
    • Racial unrest across America
    • Needs of our veterans, our nation’s military, and their families
    • Ongoing investigations to reveal truth and a resolve be reached soon in each of them
    • Election of leaders in the fall of 2018
  • This list could go on, but Lord, these specifically this month we place into Your hands. Please channel the hearts of our leaders to what is best for the American people as well as others across the world.

A prayer you can pray:

“Lord, as You have the power to control a king’s heart and direct it wherever You choose, please direct our President Donald J. Trump, our Vice President Mike Pence, our President’s Cabinet, our appointed and elected leaders in America, as well as those leading our nation’s Armed Forces … moving them in a direction You desire.”1 Our nation is in great need of strong leadership to move back to a position of righteousness and justice. Our leaders must be fearless and uncompromising, honest and compassionate. May they turn to You for direction in all matters that pertain to the American people. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

God will direct our nation’s government leaders, to lead as He desires!

July Will Be America’s Month to Pray

“In June 2018, all across America and beyond, we are calling prayer warriors and prayer intercessors for America to join together in agreement in prayer. Please mobilize your pastor, your church, your denomination, and your personal network of friends across America and the world to join us for ‘31 Days of Prayer for My Nation from July 1-31’. Just imagine what could happen if millions of Americans would intercede through agreement in prayer for America during these months. We need you to join us. Spread the word now.” (Ronnie Floyd)1

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for unity in prayer for the Church of the United States of America in July 2018. May we find common ground and watch the darkness shake at our united front.
  • Declare that July 2018 is America’s Month of Prayer and that the nation will make a giant shift toward righteousness!
  • Mobilize your pastors, church, denomination, and personal network of friends to join in.

A prayer you can pray:

Jesus, you love it when the Church is in unity. One of the things we should always be able to unify over is intercession! We ought always to pray, especially for those in authority over us. Our nation is in a season of change and we want to participate in that, changing the spiritual atmosphere through our united intercession. We call our pastors to have a desire to pray for the nation and give sections of our church services to prayer for America at least in the month of July 2018. Let whole denominations hear of this and encourage their pastoral staffs to implement this in their churches. Let’s put it all over social media and then, let’s pray! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s decree:

Unified prayer can change this nation!
