Reforming the Conscience of a Nation

I recently read an article regarding the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, spearheaded by Senator Ben Sasse from Nebraska. It seems that abortionists are continuously using loopholes to allow babies that survive abortions to die on the table, without providing any help or comfort whatsoever. (I can hardly bear the thought.) Sasse, along with 37 other senators, is trying to change this. The article went on to say that if the law makes it through the Senate, it will almost certainly be rejected by the Democrat-controlled House. Inconceivable—unless you consider other things happening in our culture, such as celebrity supporters of abortion are now spearheading the “Shout Your Abortion” movement. In other words, “Don’t be ashamed of your abortion—brag about it.” It is certainly not my intention to shame anyone who has participated in an abortion—God can completely eradicate the sin, shame, and pain. My point is that a portion of America is in desperate need of an awakened conscience.

Nothing can accomplish this but an encounter with God! This is coming! This is why we continue to give all of our efforts to turning America back to God. The coming Third Great Awakening is needed to stop this runaway train, because it is the only thing that can transform the conscience of a nation. God, in His mercy and covenantal faithfulness, is going to send a great revival. A merciful awakening is on the way, through which millions will find salvation and therein, find the mind of Christ. The heart and conscience of a nation will come alive. America will change from the inside.

“Are they ashamed because they have done such shameful things? No, they are not at all ashamed. They do not even know how to blush!” (Jeremiah 6:15a; NET)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Educate yourself on the new abortion legislations being passed across America in the last month. See New York here. See upcoming Vermont legislation here. Here is the suit against the state of Texas, which was heard on January 7th.
  • Pray that abortion is eradicated in America.
  • Intercede for the salvation of those who do not yet know him.
  • Pray for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to be saved, so his mind can be renewed and he can see life through God’s eyes. Right now, he can’t. Pray for those associated with the pro-abortion groups mentioned in the articles. Ask God to send revival to the places they live – New York, Vermont, Austin, TX, Washington, D.C., etc. Let’s believe together for a turnaround right where it’s darkest!

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, lead me to the information I need in order for me to be able to rend my heart over what breaks Yours. I can’t stick my head in the sand and hope my nation will change without prayer and intercession. Abortion must end in America. The death culture must be overturned by Your Life-giving Awakening flowing through the land. Save those who are currently Your greatest foes. Those that mock life, those that shout about their abortions and feel no shame, those that promote and vote for legislation that kills babies even to the moment of birth—save them! Save our nation from their unholy, God-less ideology! Save those working for Planned Parenthood, Whole Woman’s Health,  and the Afiya Center. Draw them to Jesus, Holy Spirit. Only You can deliver them from the enemy’s deception. Send awakening to the states of New York and Vermont, and to the city of Austin, TX. Lord, do what only You can do, as we stand in the gap for Life! Amen.

Today’s decree:
America will change from the inside, as God sends a Great Awakening!

Agape Love and Prayer Will Govern Us

“In 2018, there were more ups and downs than we could have imagined. From the Supreme Court controversy which accelerated the sanctity of life debate, to the hair-raising midterm elections that sparked excessive strife, to the increasing pressures surrounding border security, the heat is on. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Interestingly enough, in the heat of the moment, most of America agrees with our president; national security is a major concern. Many also support his leadership for sanctity of life, no taxpayer dollars funding abortion, improving our economy, lower unemployment rates and higher economic growth rate, and his international gains.

As we move through 2019, with the March for Life and the Martin Luther King week ahead of us, please be encouraged to mend fences and build bridges. Agape love and prayer should be allowed to govern us; and we must not allow ourselves to be divided by politics. Let this be a year of overcoming crimes against humanity such as racism and abortion; not color blind, but with eyes wide open. Remember, love and prayer brought us through 2018 and will be needed this year, and must continue on into 2020 when we start the next round of elections.” (Dr. Alveda King)

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:9-12; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for President Trump. Use Alveda’s words above to help you pray for national security, the sanctity of life, defunding of abortion in America and internationally, and for a continuing strong economy.
  • Intercede for the March for Life on January 18th. If you are in the Washington, D.C. area, or close enough to drive in, consider participating. Your local area might be hosting a March for Life, as well.
  • Ask God to let this be a year of overcoming crimes against humanity such as racism and abortion. Repent of any areas in your heart and mind that don’t line up with God’s Word on these matters. Pray for any family members you have that operate out of a place of racism or disregard for life.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we lift up President Donald J. Trump to you today. Thank you for giving us a very bold President who believes in protecting the American people and protecting the unborn. We ask that all public funding for abortion in America, as well as funds set aside for international abortions would cease. We ask that President Trump would continue to work to strengthen our economy, so citizens have an increasingly better standard of living. We join together in prayer for the National March for Life on January 18th in Washington, D.C., and other locations across the nation. Protect those who are walking and praying for the ending of abortion in the U.S.A. Free our nation from the death culture abortion brings in. End racism, as well.  Help every Believer to have Your heart for one another, regardless of race, economic background, or denominational preference. Help us be an example of the agape love You have for those who don’t yet know You, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Church in America will choose to walk in agape love and truth, and refuse to let Satan divide us!

Legacy-sized Miracles and Harvest

“The Bible says that a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. We should all be asking ourselves, ‘When I pass away, what kind of a legacy will I leave?’ We should be asking God for a legacy-sized harvest of souls, and glorious, life-changing, manifestations of His Presence. Last year, many of us felt it was a year to possess the gates of the enemy. We can now look back and see that all around the world, captives were set free. Pastor Andrew Brunson was held captive in Turkey. He was set free. Asia Bibi, a young Christian woman in Pakistan was on death row and she was set free. Over and over we could say the gates opened. Tremendous gates opened. Suddenlies and acceleration was prophesied and we saw that. This year, that’s going to an extreme level. The Power of God is getting to ready to be visited on the Church on a much larger scale.” (Cindy Jacobs)

“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.” (Habakkuk 1:5; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Can you believe that this is a year of extraordinary miracles?
  • Can you believe this is the year a profound harvest of souls begins?
  • Can you believe that God’s manifested Presence will be experienced this year?
  • What kind of a legacy are you believing God for?
  • What captives are you praying for to see them set free?
  • Pray about all of these things.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I believe this is a year we will see incredible miracles. We will see the beginning of a great harvest of souls. I so desire to see Your manifested Presence in and through my life. I want to see the Church manifesting miracle, signs and wonders, which glorify and lead people to Jesus. May the goodness of God be seen in America. May the rich legacy of the inheritance of the saints be realized, which is to know Christ and make Him known. (Pray for captives you know who need to be set free and introduced to Jesus.) Amen, Lord. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Power of God is getting to ready to be visited on the Church on a legacy-creating scale.

Enough is Enough!

There are times when the enemy is empowered and even overplays his hand, so to speak. I believe that is happening today in America. I saw this word of encouragement from Bobby Connor and it spoke right into this season for America. Saints, it is time to press into Him and His Glory! “The Spirit of God is fanning the flame of discontentment within the hearts of many. We can’t remain satisfied and content with our lack of power and spiritual authority; a cry of desperation must burst forth: ‘Enough is enough!’ Ask yourself this question: ‘Am I willing to pay the price to seek the Lord for promotion?’ This will be a season of swift acceleration and advancement if we put God first. We are instructed to seek the Lord while He is near (see Isaiah 55:6). We are reminded that we only find the Lord when we search with all our heart (see Jeremiah 29:12-13). If we make seeking Him and His Kingdom our top priority, He will take care of everything else (see Matthew 6:33). There is a wonderful grace offered for us to advance in the times of adversity! The invitation is extended to all saints; however, by a lack of commitment, many will disqualify themselves. This is a time to be desperate for the revealed glory of God. One of the marks of these overcomers will be hunger and complete dissatisfaction with business as usual. This holy hunger will drive us to seek the Lord on a much more increased level.” (Bobby Connor)

“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Humble yourself before the Lord and worship Him.
  • Present yourself before Him and ask Him to cleanse your heart and mind. Invite His holy fire to clear away the chaff of the world so you are ready to fight His battles. This is where true spiritual authority comes from.
  • Consider a season of fasting and prayer soon, if you are not already fasting in this early season of the year. Dedicate a portion of time to come aside and passionately seek Him.
  • If you are not experiencing a deep hunger and thirst for Him, this is the time to ask Him for that. Our nation needs many hungry for God!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I humble myself before You today. I love You and I want to love You more. I want to be burning for You (Worship Him for a bit.) I need the fire of Your Presence to come and burn away all of the thoughts and feelings I have about the things around me. I get passionate about the wrong things. I want my thoughts to line up with Yours. I want my emotions to line up with Yours. I want to love what You love and hate what You hate. I want to look around me and see as You see. Lord, I want to express Your manifest Glory in the earth everywhere that I go, and with every prayer that I pray. May the darkness around me be pushed back, because You indwell me. Let me be constantly cognizant of You. Change my worship, change my life, change my prayers, change my decrees. May all of my prayers and actions be pleasing in Your eyes, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Enough is enough!

Living in Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus said in Mark 16, “Go preach the Gospel…” The word “preach” in this verse means to announce, or publish. But Jesus uses a completely different word in Matthew 28. There, he says “teach” which means to teach principles. What if the Church was living that? We could work together as churches across a city or county to elect Believers to all kinds of positions. We could be elected to city boards and govern according to the instruction in God’s Word. A motivated congregation that is praying for their schools could put forth candidates for a local school board, win their elections, and rule their school board by biblical principles. (This has actually happened in some places!) This is one way Believers can stop the flow of iniquity and unrighteousness that may be in our cities. And when the people of God are elected, may they be living righteously so as not to bring reproach on our Lord.

“Be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12b; GNT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Stop and think for a moment how those who govern your city, school board, county and state are doing. Are they Christians? Use the internet to find out who they are and pray for them by name.
  • Learn about what your city council does, decisions your school board makes, and what your county commissioners do. Does your city have volunteer boards, such as a Parks Board, Economic Development Board, Library Board, etc? Prayerfully consider volunteering. Start attending some of the meetings and pray onsite with insight.
  • Talk to your pastor about getting prayer groups together to pray for government, from the local level to the national level.
  • Take the responsibility and ask the Lord for a strategy to involve your church in city governmental prayer activities.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, today I want to talk with You about my local government. What would you like me to know. Teach me what I need to research and understand, so I can be effective in interceding for my city council members, school board officials, county commissioners, emergency responders, etc. I don’t know why I have never thought of them before, when the decisions they make impact my life and the life of my family so much. As I pray for them, show me if there is some way I can be involved in prayer and in action. Is there a board where my gifts would be helpful? Is there an office you would like me to run for? Use me to stir up prayer for government in my church and community. I am willing. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s decree:

We will pray, we will act, we will instruct, and by God’s grace, we will bring a righteous atmosphere to America!

Getting Past the Religious Structures

I feel like God is about to awaken denominations and streams and tell them, “You are stuck in the past.” He’s going to shift the thinking of religious people. There are some doctrinal things that should not be. Church government structures, thoughts on eschatology, these things are keeping us apart. We should be able to reach across our doctrinal differences and work together, if our basic theology is true to the Word of God. John the Baptist said, “He must increase. I must decrease.” We, the Church, are here to make Him known, not ourselves or our denominational doctrines. We are here to expand His Kingdom in the earth, not build our own. We must pray that the Church does Matthew 28:18-20, not just Mark 16 during this next outpouring.

“He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.” (John 3:30-31; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for the leaders of the Body of Christ across all denominations. Pray that they would be prompted by the Holy Spirit to look at whether doctrinal differences are keeping them from working together with other members of the Church.
  • Decree, “He must increase and we, His children, His servants, must decrease.”
  • Ask the Lord to stir the Church to pray for all segments of society, especially government.
  • Pray leaders equip the saints to share the Gospel where they work and have influence.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I pray for all of the leaders in the church, across all denominational lines. I love them all, Lord, and I so desire that we would be one, even as You are One. Your Word says that the world will drawn to Jesus by the love we have for one another, but so often our doctrinal differences keep us apart. Certain things, such as the way we conduct church services or how we dress, or even arguments over when and how You will return, are not things that should keep us apart. Those things are not as important to salvation. Help us to put our prideful ideas aside! You must increase and we must decrease. We must stop trying to be seen, and exalt You, Jesus, instead! We have to reach the world, in all those places You send us every day. We must go into the harvest fields – government, education, arts and entertainment, media, etc. Show our leaders how to follow Matthew 28:18-20 and equip the saints to pray and go into these harvest fields. Grant us grace and influence, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

There is a humility coming to the American Church that is motivating us to work together to expand God’s Kingdom in the nation.

Let the Congregation Make a Petition

Can you imagine congregants asking their pastors the following questions? Pastor, why don’t we pray for the government more? Can we pray for the President today? Could we intercede for life today? Pastor, can we pray for our city council members? It could get pretty uncomfortable for leaders if we start doing that. Congregants are going to start realizing, “We don’t pray for these things. Why don’t we do this?” I’ve been asking the Lord, “What do we need to do for this shift to take place?” I’ve been asking the Lord to give favor to some who have a broader voice than I have, who could speak to many streams, who could suddenly tap into this. We need those to rise up who can start writing and teaching and crossing denominational streams. We need Baptists and Assembly of God leaders, and many others with influence.

“Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers.” (1 Timothy 5:1; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • With humility, pray for your pastors and those in authority over you that they will have a heart to pray for government and governmental leaders.
  • Ask the Lord for grace and favor to discuss this in a respectful manner with your senior leader. Ask them the questions above or similar ones.
  • Pray for leaders to tap into this who have influence across denominational streams. Intercede for them to start speaking and writing on this topic, so pastors, leaders, and congregants can be on the same page.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, stir in me a heart to pray for government and government leaders. Help me to have revelation in this realm of prayer the Church so often ignores. With some of us on both sides of the political aisle, we are afraid to offend one another, but Your Word is the place we can keep going back to for our standard and direction. Stir up the congregants to speak to pastors about this. Stir up the pastors to fearlessly ask congregants to pray for government and government leaders. Stir up national-level leaders to speak and write on this topic with an anointing to cross denominational barriers. Get Your Church in unity in this area, Lord. It may matter for the harvest. It certainly matters for the peace we desire to live in and to raise our families in. In Jesus’ name, we ask. Amen.

Today’s decree:

God is placing favor on congregants and leaders in the Body of Christ to stir prayer for government in this nation!

The Pastors’ Responsibility

I once had a heart to heart discussion with a friend of mine who is the pastor of a large congregation. I asked him, following an election, how he encouraged the congregation to vote. I said, “How did you prepare the people? Did you challenge them to vote for life and justice? Did you ask them to pray? Did you hold prayer times for the government, as scripture teaches us?” He pastors in a place where there are a lot of union workers. It’s very politically diverse with members of both parties in his congregation. So, I asked how he handled this and what he did. He said, “Why would I defile what God’s doing by talking about government and politics?” This is part of the problem. Government is not evil. Politics has gotten evil. The political system is evil in some ways, not in every way. However, God is government. God works through government. God said to pray for government and those who govern us. We have a church in America that says to leave all that alone and God will take care of that. We’re just supposed to get people saved and then disciple them. But, that’s not scriptural. Doing Matthew 28:18-20 is going to require a huge shift if the Church is going to start making any kind of progress. I think God is going to start making pastors really uncomfortable. He is going to start convicting them, because they are not thinking this way. People in the congregation are going to start hearing these things and they will ask their pastors why their church is not discipling government and other areas of the culture.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 1:1-4; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for 1 Timothy 1:1-4 to be embraced by pastors and others in positions to lead the Body of Christ.
  • Pray for the revelation of those verses to sink in to the Church—being able to freely share the Gospel can be dependent on the governmental leaders in place.
  • Say, “God is government. Earthly government must come into alignment with Him and His plans.”
  • Pray for the Church to rise up and make a respectful demand on their leadership for prayer times for government. We need to pray for elections and legislation, Supreme Court appointments and other governmental decisions. This pleases the Lord.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we pray 1 Timothy 1:1-4, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. We pray that our pastors receive a revelation of this by the Holy Spirit. God is government. Earthly government must come into alignment with Him and His plans. Let our leaders encourage us to pray for our government leaders and other governmental matters. Let them give service time to this and appoint those in the congregation who have a passion for this to lead us. Holy Spirit, give this sae revelation to the Body of Believers get this, as well. Let this come from both directions, so that we begin to do what the Word command us to do in praying for government. The harvest may well depend on it! In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.

Today’s decree:

America’s pastors will begin to lead their congregations in prayer for government and government leaders.

Discipling a Nation

Our goal is not going to be to get individuals saved, but to save nations. It is not going to be to disciple one, but to disciple movements and different elements of the culture. This is going to require a huge shift for us, the Body of Christ. For the average church in America, doing the Matthew 28 thing never crosses their mind. It never enters their thinking at all. The shifting of the Supreme Court is one of those areas we are discipling in the culture of this nation. While President Trump was considering candidates for the Supreme Court when Justice Kennedy retired, I attended a large Charismatic church. I kept waiting for somebody to pray about his choice. This presidential decision would have the ability to impact our nation for the next 40-50 years. Our children and grandchildren will be impacted by who would fill that seat. Everything we have been praying for will be dramatically impacted: the ability to preach the Gospel in this nation, the sanctity of marriage and human life, etc. There are no more significant decisions being made in this nation right now than the seating of the Supreme Court Justices. I kept waiting for someone to at least mention it as a matter of prayer. I kept waiting for someone to pray about this or even just say, “Pray that God would help our President make the right choice to place the right person on the Supreme Court.” Just something! If not even a five-minute prayer, at least a 15-second announcement! How about a mention as they were headed out the door? It probably won’t surprise you that it was never even mentioned at all.

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for the Church regarding the lack of understanding the Body of Christ is walking in regarding Matthew 28:18-20.
  • Ask God to give church leadership revelation on what the discipling of nations looks like.
  • Pray for church leaders to be aware of governmental situations where godly leaders can make a difference.
  • Pray that congregations start praying about these things.
  • Tell your pastor that you will be happy to stay on top of these things and lead the church in prayer regarding them.

A prayer you can pray:

God, we are in trouble. Jesus said, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ We don’t know what that means. We are typically taught that it is talking about discipling individuals, but it says “people groups” or “cultures”. Oh, how our lives would be different if we taught about and prayed about engaging the culture. Our nation would be different if we prayed regularly for our President and other elected officials and the decisions they make. Show our pastors how important this is. Help them teach our congregations and lead us in prayer regarding these important things. Anoint me to go and meet with my leader and tell them I am happy to help with this. The future of my children, grandchildren, and nation are dependent on this. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The Church will learn to disciple America, from the government, to the culture, to the individual!

The Great Turning Year

Welcome to 2019. I feel as or more stirred over this nation as I have perhaps ever before. The Lord has given me a message I have shared a few times recently on finishing well. I’m not talking about finishing our lives well. I’m talking about finishing this cause that we’ve been involved in well. This cause of stirring prayer for the Third Great Awakening, turning around a nation and recapturing its destiny, we are going to finish this well. We are going to see America fully turned. We are going to see the greatest revival in the history of America and in the history of the world. We are going to see our part, America’s part,  in that accomplished. We are going to see a reformation. We are going to see darkness, evil, humanism, anti-Christ agendas, pro-death agendas, all those things, pushed back and reversed. We are going to see the cause of Christ prosper in this nation. This will be a great turning year. This will be the year that these things move forward in amazing ways. Stay engaged! Our best days are ahead!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16; KJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Give the Lord praise and glorify His Name, for He has brought us through much and in 2019 has now positioned us on the brink of a great harvest of souls.
  • Ask God to make you unafraid and unashamed of the Gospel message.
  • Command all darkness, evil, humanistic, anti-Christ agendas, pro-death agendas, and all such things, be pushed back and reversed.
  • Call forth the redemption of Jesus Christ to save the lost, but also to turn around lost and tainted societal structures.
  • Say, “This is the year of the favor of the Lord! He will reverse every curse and bring forth light in the darkness and life in the barren places of our cities and in our nation.”

A prayer you can pray:

Glorious Father, we exalt Your name and praise You! You have brought us through a challenging year and You are teaching our hands to war. You have prepared a harvest and many good things for us to walk in this year, 2019. Remove all shame, fear, and doubt and unbelief from among us. There is no time and  no room for it now. These things must simply get out of our way. The harvest must be reaped and the nation must be brought into alignment with Your destiny for it. We command all darkness, evil, humanistic, anti-Christ agendas, pro-death agendas, and all such things, be pushed back and reversed. We call forth the redemption of Jesus Christ to save the lost, but also to turn around lost and tainted societal structures. We say, “This is the year of the favor of the Lord! He will reverse every curse and bring forth light in the darkness and life in the barren places of our cities and in our nation.” Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The favor of the Lord has come to the United States of America. Harvest and blessings have come to us this year!
