Praying for Elections Without Being Political*

This upcoming midterm election is being called the most consequential midterm in many years.1 Some of the issues of current concern the praying Church should focus on are:

  • Laws regulating abortion
  • Euthanasia legislation
  • Parental rights
  • Definition of marriage
  • Gender identification
  • Increasing attacks against religious freedom

All of the above could change based on the voter turnout of God’s people in the upcoming general election.

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Intercede for all Americans to follow the Lord’s guidance as they vote, not just the philosophies of political parties.
  • Ask that voters would not put economics or politics above the godly and biblical foundations upon which America was founded.
  • Pray that the Lord gives us godly leaders with integrity who will govern in wisdom and righteousness.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we ask that all Americans would follow Your guidance as we make decisions of who to vote for. Don’t let us simply vote for a political party. We ask that voters would not put economics or politics above the godly and biblical foundations upon which America was founded. Above all, Lord, give us godly leaders of integrity who will govern in wisdom and righteousness. Let our leaders be those who seek You for direction. Our nation needs You more than anything else! Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

We will vote biblically, not politically.

What is at Stake in the Midterm Elections*

The upcoming hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh highlight the importance of our national midterm elections. A number of states will elect new U.S. Senators who will vote on the confirmation of numerous federal judges, including the likelihood of one or more Supreme Court justices.1

In the Midterm General Elections, November 6, 2018, Americans will vote on:

  • 35 U.S. Senators
  • ALL 435 U.S. House of Representatives seats
  • 39 Governors
  • 7 Mayors of major U.S. cities
  • Numerous state and local offices (Check your Secretary of State’s website for local election details.)

“First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way. This is good and pleases God our Savior. He wants all people to be saved and to learn the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4; GWT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray that people will become well informed on where candidates stand on the issues and will seriously seek You in how they vote.
  • Lord, please watch over the integrity of the voting system; protect the casting and counting of every ballot.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill the voting booths and guide people as they vote.
  • Remind your family and friends to make sure they are registered to vote. Post a Register to Vote site on the social media sites you use.

A prayer you can pray:

Heavenly Father, today we lift before You the upcoming midterm elections. We pray that Believers will become well informed on where candidates stand on the issues and will seriously seek You in how to vote. By Your Holy Spirit, awaken huge numbers of godly people who will turn out to vote. Lord, we pray that Your Spirit will fill the voting booths and guide people as they vote. Let them make sure they are registered to vote and remind all their family members and friends to get registered, as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s decree:

God’s people will pray and VOTE!

Praying in Unity is Coming!

Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” (Philippians 2:2; NASB)

When we look around America today, we know that we are in a crisis; we’ve reached a tipping point. In the last election, many Christians got out and voted; however, many spiritual leaders across this nation have been saying one thing: “We’re concerned the church has gone back to sleep.” I know some of you have a similar concern in your heart.

The midterm elections are coming up. The Christian turnout for these elections will reveal whether we are truly going to be able to turn the nation and fully establish cords of righteousness, or if we’re going to slide backwards.

I want to encourage you. If you believe that abortion is wrong, if you believe that the blood of 60,000,000 aborted babies is crying out from the ground of the United States, and if you knew that turning the tide of a nation was within our grasp, even by one vote – would you vote? Would you pray?

I’m asking you to do both—pray and vote. Pray and act. I’m asking you to join us, as we prayer walk America, as we cry out for the nation. We know that God wants to do extraordinary things through our prayers. If we will pray, God will act.

We have developed this very important website called Pray in Unity.” Here, you can sign up to adopt your block in prayer. You will also find a daily devotion covering all kinds of topics related to the midterm election. In addition, you can sign up to receive a weekly email containing the prayer devotions for each week.

Also, beginning 9/28 through 11/6, Give Him 15 will post the daily devotionals, together with many other national prayer ministries.

It’s a 40-day season, beginning September 28 and continuing through Election Day, November 6. You can also visit many of the supporting organizations’ websites that are listed for additional national prayer resources. You will be praying in unity with thousands of different intercessors from across America, connecting with a coalition of prayer leaders that are standing together, and saying, “We are concerned about America.”

Would you join us? Pray in Unity. Go to the blue button that says, Sign Up.” We’d love for you to participate. Let’s turn the tide!

The Importance of the Midterm Elections, November 6th

“The mid-term elections in November are possibly the most important mid-terms that we have ever seen. This election has the ability to completely shift our nation into a great awakening and reformation or see us regress deeper into darkness. We must arise and live out Isaiah 60 for the sake of His kingdom and our Christian heritage. At this time, the giants of the land are trying to taunt us into giving up and going home. As I write this, we are seeing a huge power-hungry manifestation of spiritual darkness trying its best to hold on to the U.S. Supreme Court. However, there are more angels on the side of righteousness than there are darkness. We are only one Supreme Court justice away from possibly seeing Roe vs. Wade overturned. (Pray for Judge Kavanaugh.) In order to see President Trump fulfill his destiny of shifting the Supreme Court, he needs a majority of the Senate. There are 35 U.S. Senate Seats up for election.  See those up for election by clicking here.” (Ken Malone)1

Arise, shine, for your light has come,  and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Isaiah 60:1-3; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:1

  • Pray—Decree that darkness will NOT prevail in this land.
  • Pray for conservative leaders to be elected on state and national levels.
  • Decree the VICTORY OF THE LORD over America.
  • Activate—Do not be passive. Be aggressive in seeing this nation turn to the Lord.
  • Be Bold—The Lord told Joshua that in order to possess the land he had to be courageous.  (Joshua 1) Speak out. Do not fear!
  • Go to your county government seat and pray.
  • Vote—Go and vote and encourage others to vote as well.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we say that darkness will not prevail in this land! Righteous leaders who fear You, honor the U. S. Constitution, and will represent the people of their districts well, are those we want to elect to political offices across America. We don’t want those who will expand the enemy’s agenda of humanism, ungodly moral practices, and anti-Christian sentiment. We declare Your victory over America! We will pray and act to get Believers to the polls and involved in the political process, as the results can bring peace and righteousness into the land. Make Your Church as bold as Joshua and the armies of Israel were when they went in to possess the land. They stayed close to You and fought for all You said was theirs. Remove all fear from us as we move into these uncomfortable arenas. We choose to go to our city and county government buildings and pray for all who work there and serve us. Also, we will vote and make our voices heard—helping to advance our nation toward a great awakening and reformation. Honoring Jesus’ sacrifice, amen.

Today’s decree:1

Through our aggressive prayer and action, we can see a continued victory in America!

The Importance of Prayer Coupled With Voting

“Cheryl and I have been praying and prophesying into civil government since 2003.  Our involvement in government came through a dream Cheryl had in November of that year.  We have worked in both state and national assignments to see America return to its Christian roots.  Since 2000, His Ekklesia (the Church) has seen great victory through prayer and action. We have also seen times in which we lost ground through our inaction.  In 2008, the night of the election in which Obama took office, Wolfe Blitzer of CNN said this, ‘If the evangelicals could get their act together, they could run this nation.’  This is so true. According to Psalm 115:16, He has given the earth to the sons of men. At this time, we have gained ground on both state and national levels. Now it’s time to go into prayer war mode again.  We cannot back off or rest during this midterm election.” (Ken Malone)1

The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind.” (Psalms 115:16; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Ponder Psalm 115:16 in light of taking responsibility for the earthly environment in which you want to raise your children and grandchildren.
  • Are you tired of the atmosphere that actively tries to shut Christians up, allows homosexuality and transgender activities, and promotes abortion?
  • Decide to take responsibility for the part of the earth realm the Lord has given to you as your arena of influence – your family, your neighborhood, your schools, your city, your state, and this nation.
  • Ask God how you can pray for each of your areas of influence.
  • Intercede for the Church to wake up, pray and vote!
  • Encourage your Christian friends to vote. You can start by posting this link on Facebook. You can click on the various tabs (Senate, House, Governor, State) to see your state’s races.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, You have made it pretty clear in Your Word that You want Your people to involve themselves in the things of the earth. You gave us the earth for our provision, but you also want us to involve ourselves in the matters of the earth, such as in government. Just like we would relegate the earth to weeds and pollution if we did not nurture it, so we relegate culture to humanism and Godlessness if we ignore government.  We eat the fruit of what we refuse to take dominion over in accordance with Genesis 1:28. I choose to engage the culture in my family, my neighborhood, the schools near me, my city, my state, and this nation. Teach me to pray over each of these areas within my sphere of  influence. I call the Church to wake up! Intercede! Get to the polls and vote, lest what we abdicate rules over us! I choose to encourage my family and friends in this as well, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

We call America’s Christians to pray and vote!

Are We Fearmongers?

“Late last week, I wrote an article that caused a bit of a furious reaction in social-justice Twitter. Activists claimed I was lying, arguing in bad faith, and/or exaggerating the effect of California’s AB 2943, a bill that purports to declare ‘sexual orientation change efforts’ to be an ‘unlawful business practice.’… And I’m right. It can and would.” Here’s how: First, “the bill by its own terms applies to very broad categories of services and goods… ‘The following unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices undertaken by any person in a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer are unlawful.’ Second, a book (along with other written materials, like pamphlets or workbooks) fits within the very, very broad definition of goods. Basically, if you can buy it and move it (in other words, it’s not real estate), then it’s a good.” (David French)1

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:11-12; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray that blinders come off of Californians to see the blatant lies of the enemy.
  • Tell any of your friends and family members who live in CA and love Jesus to call their state Senators and get them to vote against this bill! It has already passed in the State Assembly.
  • 11 states – CO, HI, NY, MD, AZ, DE, MI, WY, WV, NH, PA – are contemplating a version of AB 2943, however, none as broad as the CA Assembly Bill. Four of those 11 – HI, MD, NY and NH – have started the process to make it law in their states. Maine is looking at a bill as broad as California’s. Intercede, educate yourself, make phone calls, write emails and letters, and get these bills off the table!
  • If you do not live in one of the states listed above, intercede for them. Do not think you can be casual about this just because it’s not on your doorstep, or it soon could be!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, save California from this darkness. It is already leaching over into other states. What seemed impossible just a couple of years ago is now about to go mainstream. Can and will Christians be persecuted for our counseling and deliverance ministries in some states? Can and will books that Believers write on sexual orientation matters be pulled from shelves in some states? Are we being fearful or diligent? Should we just decide to accept the laws of the land and succumb to them, becoming enslaved to our own religiosity, or do we fight for righteousness and holiness with our prayers, phones, pens and votes? Get us off the defensive! In Jesus’ culture-transforming name, amen.

Today’s decree:

Wake up from your slumber, Church! Pray and act!
