Please pray for truth and revelation on the source and volume of wastewater, so that it can be mitigated and no further spillage occurs. We lift up all of the operators and local citizens, whose health may be threatened by the contaminants., and thank you for the promise of Psalm 91... That you will send your angels to guard and guide us. We also pray for smooth communications with all residents, so they follow the boil water orders, and we thank you God for solutions like rainwater and atmospheric water - heaven-sent water.
Residents in Houston with private wells near a wastewater treatment site have been urged to only use distilled or boiled water after a "structural failure" caused domestic sludge to spill out of a holding tank.
In a statement on Tuesday, Houston Public Works told people living within half a mile of the Almeda Sims Wastewater Treatment Plant in the City Park neighborhood of southwest Houston who used private wells for their drinking water that the supply may be affected by the spill. It advised boiling water for cooking, bathing and brushing teeth as well, until private well water had been tested and disinfected if necessary.
Houston Public Works said that as of 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) on Tuesday, the estimated volume of released wastewater was more than 100,000 gallons, and a clean-up operation had commenced. However, several local news outlets, citing officials, said around 600,000 gallons had spilled from the tank.
