Extraordinary Miracles

The Bible speaks of “special” miracles (Acts 19:11) being performed by the hands of Paul at Ephesus. The New American Standard Bible uses the word “extraordinary.” Wuest’s great literal translation says of these miracles, “not the ordinary kind known to the apostles…but uncommon, extraordinary ones.” One would think every miracle is special, uncommon, and extraordinary. It seems, however, that to God, most miracles are, well, just regular old miracles. Then, on rare occasions, He decides to elevate His game and perform “special” miracles…like He did for Ronald Coyne.

In 1948, Gordan Lindsay started the Voice of Healing magazine to publish testimonies of healing that were occurring throughout America and other nations. He later founded Christ For the Nations Bible Institute, which Tim and Carol, Ceci and I, Greg Hood, and, of course, thousands of others attended. In his book Gifts of the Spirit, Volume 3, Gordan Lindsay tells Ronald’s story:

“In May 1950, the Coyne family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. One day in August of that year, while the mother was taking a nap, she was aroused by a cry coming from her son, Ronald, who was down the street a short distance. His brother came in and said Ronald had stuck a wire into his eye.

“At first, the mother thought little about it, but the boy continued to cry, and late in the afternoon, she noticed a white spot on the eyeball. The parents took the boy to a doctor and later to one of the best eye specialists in Tulsa, Dr. Otis Lee, at the Springer Clinic. He realized the seriousness of the accident and rushed the boy to St. John’s Hospital.

“Surgery was performed in an attempt to save the eye, but during the operation, it was discovered that an abscess had formed and there was no way to drain it. The mother was informed that Ronald might lose the other eye, or he might even lose his life if the infected eyeball were not removed.

“During these hours, the mother desperately held on to God, hoping that the eye might not be lost. She would not give her consent to the removal of the eyeball, but finally, her husband gave his permission for the operation to proceed. A plastic eyeball was fitted to take the place of the eye, which was removed. Four days later, Ronald came home. For ten months, sight was totally gone, obviously, in his right eye.

“Shortly after this, he went to a Vacation Bible School, came home with a big smile, and said, ‘Mother, I got saved!’

“About two weeks after Ronald was saved, the family began attending a revival in Sapulpa. Ronald had an infection in his tonsils, so his mother told him to go up and be prayed for. The lady evangelist, Rev. Gillock, prayed for him, and then noticed that something was wrong with his eye. She asked the boy if he believed the Lord could heal his eye. She didn’t know the eyeball had been removed but thought the plastic one she saw was a real eye. When Ronald said he believed he could be healed, she prayed that he could see. And God heard the prayer of faith!

“Ronald began to see objects with his right eye! First, he saw the steps, then the microphone, and then was able to count fingers.

“All were astonished who knew the facts. The parents and others tested him repeatedly. The absolute conclusion was that the boy was seeing!

“Soon, the news spread. The local newspapers wrote an article on the miracle. Reporters came from the Tulsa World and the Tulsa Tribune, and these papers carried the story. About this time, the Lord spoke to the mother and told her to ‘go and tell the people.’ Since that time, she has taken Ronald to many meetings, and the demonstration of what God has done has been made to vast audiences.

“At the Dallas Voice of Healing Convention in December 1952, Ronald stood before the congregation and showed the people how he was able to see through the plastic eye. I tested the boy a number of times, and there was no doubt in my mind that the boy was able to see; he could do so equally well with the plastic eye in or the plastic eye out. It was, in fact, a continuous miracle!

“Ten years later, Ronnie spoke at our 1962 Voice of Healing Convention at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Now a fiery young evangelist, he not only delivered a splendid anointed message, but demonstrated that the miracle still enabled him to see perfectly out of the plastic eye.”(1)

The Working of Miracles

This is a manifestation of the “working of miracles,” one of the gifts of the Spirit listed in First Corinthians 12:8-10. It often works in conjunction with the “gift of faith,” another of these gifts. We cannot control the operation of these gifts - Holy Spirit does this - but we can certainly ask for them to operate (Acts 4:29-30), and we can discern when He desires to use us in their release (Acts 3:1-10).

I’m not promising you that “extraordinary” miracles of this nature will occur at the Healing Summit tonight in Middletown, Ohio, or in other places joining us online for healing services. I am, however, boldly stating that we are coming into a season in which miracles of this magnitude will occur. And I am certain that people will be healed tonight.

I am also certain that gifts of the spirit will be imparted to many in the body of Christ as we ask for this to occur. These gifts will not just operate tonight, but will continue to manifest in the future.

Let’s ask for both to occur tonight: miracles and a release of the gifts of the Spirit for future ministry.

Pray with me:

Father, move by Your Spirit throughout the earth tonight. Heal people in homes, hospitals, churches, and elsewhere. Heal eyes, ears, hearts, and other bodily organs, joints, blood, bones, neurological systems, and more. Remove cancer, tumors, brain diseases and disorders, and many other diseases. Also, we ask that You heal minds, emotions, and relationships. And we ask for special miracles – creative, uncommon, extraordinary miracles.

Release gifts of the Spirit tonight to believers around the world. Holy Spirit, we ask that You would breathe Your nature and gifts into thousands of Christ-followers. Let the restoration we spoke of in yesterday’s post take place so that we may demonstrate the resurrection of Jesus to the world (Acts 4:33). We live to glorify Him.

And in His name, we pray this. Amen.

Our decree:

We decree that tonight, the sick will be healed, and believers will be empowered.

Hallelujah and Amen! Great message and word from God! Miracles come in every shape and form! We're all miracles from our creator our Lord and savior Jesus Christ! All of us even the unsaved! My wife family, her aunt, uncle and their three kids at the time all got electrocuted trying to put up and old time antenna out doors and it hit a electric power line. The youngest boy saw it from the house and ran to save them and fail into them and knocked…
