I live north of Saratoga Springs. My property borders the Hudson River and the ridge behind my house looks down upon Sherman Island Hydro Electric Dam. The Hudson just south of here runs under exit 17 of the Northway. To my north is Spire Falls Hydro Electric Dam. Both dams have a Hazard Potential Classification of High; meaning a high probable cause of loss of human life if major damage was to occur.
I live in an area rich in Revolutionary War history from Fort Ticonderoga to the north to Saratoga Battle Field to my south. My mother was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, so maybe one of my ancestors boated along this river with earlier patriots who fought for our freedoms. I grew up in a house built soon after the revolution; we even had a small antique ceremonial canon in our front yard that was used to sound alarms and celebrate victories during the time of the revolution. In prayer I thanked the Lord for the men and women who fought for and won the freedom we are fighting for again. I thanked God for the Covenant they made with Him and the pledge that was made that we would always be “One nation under God”. My Prayers and Decrees specifically covered the Hudson River from Spier Falls near Corinth, past Sherman Island Dam in Moreau to Feeder Dam in Glens Falls.
Wow, thank you Father for the rich history and covenant with You established in New York during the birthing of this nation. We love You and adore You. Thank you Susan for your prayers and decrees over the mighty waters in your beautiful county of Saratoga.
My distant relatives were the Warners who owned Constitution Island across the Hudson River from West Point. They had a chain there, commissioned by George Washington, across the river to prevent enemy ships from gaining access. I have been praying for that area even though I am currently in Florida.
Wow, beautiful! Thanks for sharing the history as well.
